2025 Honda CR-V

This model has a safety problem with a dangerous distraction caused by the entertainment system while backing up. When you start the car, the entertainment system begins a boot-up cycle that takes 5 to 10 seconds. During that time the driver can put the car into reverse and begin reversing. While driving in reverse, when the entertainment system finishes starting up, it will resume whatever it was doing when the car was shut off. If the radio was on, the radio will come on. If bluetooth was selected, it will send a "play" command to the attached bluetooth device. This is dangerously distracting to the driver. Worse, it is impossible to turn the entertainment system off when the car is in reverse. If driver wishes to not be dangerously distracted by the loud audio, they need to (1) stop moving, (2) shift into D, (3) tap the "acknowledge" button on the touchscreen display, (4) only then can they turn off the audio. In short, the driver is forced to choose between being distracted by unwanted audio, or to disrupt their reversing maneuver to fumble awkwardly with the controls, with the potential that they may not be as careful when they resume backing up. SOLUTION(S) 1 - reprogram the entertainment system so that it is possible to turn off the audio system while in reverse, by tapping the power knob (this is the normal way to turn it off, but it is disabled while backing up). 2 - mute audio while in reverse. 3 - reprogram the entertainment system so that it does NOT send a "play" command to bluetooth immediately upon starting up.

Gear: When going through an sutomated car wash on a conveyor belt car was put in neutral and hands were off the steering wheel as instructed. about 3/4 wasy through the car wash, even though the car was still in Neutral the car started to reverse : the rear camera did not go on and there was no warning beep about a vehicle behind us and it was bumping into the front of that higher vehicle that stopped the reverse. They had no damage but our rear tailgate to the right of the license plate had peeling paint and an outward bump. We talked to the car wash owner about a possibility of a faulty conveyor belt but he denied this and showed video evidence (due to our wheels moving) that the car was in reverse, blaming us for shifting gears, which we did not do. The estimated repair for the damage we received from a trusted auto body shop is 1089.00 due to the painting and what they say is a misalignment of the tailgate. Our dealer , McGrath Honda, stated there had been no recalls of car going in different direction of the gear it is in. Had this happened on a highway ours and others safety coulf have been at risk. Upon request vehicle component and system is available for inspection.

Honda put the CR-V lidar censor behind the logo emblem on the front grill. The logo is easy to remove, and the censors are being stolen at alarming rates. They're utterly unprotected, and cost over $2000 to fix/replace. It is a huge design flaw and it's unfair that they've saddled car owners with no ability to prevent theft, and huge replacement fees if a theft occurs. I just had the logo emblem stolen and it cost over $320 to replace. That's unacceptable and I'm really mad at whoever designed this car.

The sunroof/moonroof glass spontaneously shattered. At 245 in the afternoon at 65 miles an hour no other vehicles near it. The day was clear and the temperature was in the low 70s. Heard a bang and pulled over to discover the glass had shattered. There was flying glass had another vehicle been near they would be been pelted with broken glass. The potential for injury of the passenger of the vehicle had the shade not been closed. The fact that the glass was not there it was hard to dispute that it happened. The local dealership put it off as an insurance issue rather than dealing with it. Insurance is moving forward. I believe it was a factory defect an should be looked into as a recall. No warnings just broken glass.

The component affected is the passenger side mirror. The plastic cap over the mirror spontaneously cracked. It sounded like my CRV was hit by a rock. I looked over and my mirror was folded into the vehicle. The mirror works, it is not cracked and the movement via the driver side buttons works. Upon stopping and looking, the plastic was broken from the bottom around the interior of the cap. Exterior plastic piece was left. I used black duct tape to keep the remaining pieces together. No warning signs. Pieces of plastic flew off the mirror into the roadway where cars were parked and people would be standing. My CRV is going in for an inspection on 4/2/2026.

On 02/03/2026 while driving on a flat smooth asphalt highway at 55 miles per hour our sunroof just exploded. We didn't see anything hitting us although we did meet a few oncoming cars and trucks, but none were close when this happened. Luckily we had the inside blind shut so we didn't get covered with glass chips. Neither my wife or myself ever remember opening the sunroof or the inside blind so we don't even know if the sunroof would move of if it was stuck. Called Honda dealership locally to see if there was a recall for this breakage, but they there was none and it would have to turned into our insurance. The new glass is ordered, but we have to keep our 2025 CRV garaged and only driven very short trips. It will take 8 days to get this repaired. We have 15,000 miles on our CRV and about 2/3 of the glass is missing.

I was driving on the highway when my sunroof suddenly shattered out of nowhere. There were no vehicles directly in front of or beside me, and the weather was clear. The sound was extremely loud, sounded like a gunshot and it happened completely out of nowhere. There was no visible impact from rocks or debris. Instead of a small crack, a large hole was left in the sunroof. This appears to have been a spontaneous glass failure and is very concerning from a safety standpoint.
