2018 Ford Edge

The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware that the rearview mirror and the instrument panel were inoperable. Driving home from work, I noticed a warning light indicating that the car was overheating. I stopped and realized the coolant tank was empty, so I immediately put some coolant in and continued driving home. The next day, the car wouldn't start, and after I checked the engine oil, it was contaminated with water. I called a Ford dealer for repair, and they don't want to take responsibility.

The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 31,200.

My 2018 Ford Edge is equiped with Ecoboost engine and as a result all these problems are occurring: Ford failed to disclose that these vehicles have a defect that causes coolant to leak into the engine’s cylinders, which can cause corrosion, oil dilution and contamination, and engine failure; and failed to disclose these defects create a safety risk, because the lack of coolant created by the leaks causes overheating and can result in the cylinder head cracking, total engine failure, and/or engine fires. Ford dealers have stated that I need a new engine.

I recently bought my car and the battery light was on when I test drove it. They told me to bring it back and they would fix it. That it was a sensor problem easy to fix. I have brought the car back multiple times. They put a whole new sensor system in, new battery, and just recently rebuilt the alternator. As I was driving the car home, the light went on again it comes on a few times in the day, and eventually goes off by itself. None of the mechanics know what to do now. I looked up on Google if there were any recalls on my car and read something about” the power supply cables at the starter, and the alternator may not have been properly secured, possibly resulting in an electrical arc. “ I’m thinking, possibly could this be it? The light that comes on says charging system service now in red and there is a picture of at battery. I do not feel safe, especially not knowing what the problem is.

2018 Ford Edge with a little over 25000 miles and serviced at the dealership it was purchased from. The battery will drain to less than 5 volts overnight for no apparent reason. Unit is on its second battery and it test fine. The issue is not consistent, sometimes it will happen only after a couple of months, othertimes after a few days between occurances. Its appears when when the car if turned off, something in one of its many computers is not shutting down all the required systems allowing the battery to drain overnight. Short of installing a battery disconnect switch, I', running out of ideas. Neither my wife of I feel safe driving the car, since it may leave us stranded.

APIM Module needs replacing. Screen keeps going black, does not work after trying to reset. Took to dealer and stated it does not work. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE!! No contols no navigation, cannot adjust heating, defrost and no rearview camera. makes it difficult to drive. Was told screen needs replacing too with this defect. There are many web reports of same issue with ford and they should be responsible for this repair
