Vehicle was accelerating down hill when ENGINE STOPPED LIGHT came on STOP IN A SAFE PLACE. I could not accelerate the gas or control the steering vehicle glided halfway to the side of the road before stopping. Engine stopped completely when exiting the vehicle smoke was coming out of the front hood. I could not shift the vehicles gears the system was completely locked up. STEERING POWER LOW light came on. ENGINE STOPPED light came on. Tried to contact roadside assistance no one came for over 3 hours. Neighbors called a police officer and they had to tow it due to it being in an unsafe location (blocking traffic on a two lane road) without street lights. Vehicle was towed to Marietta Toyota dealership.

The contact owned a 2023 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was erratically shaking and several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that the interior of the vehicle was extremely hot. The contact exited the vehicle and noticed smoke exiting from underneath the hood. The contact then noticed a fire under the hood. The contact called the local fire department. The fire department extinguished the fire. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. No injuries were sustained. The contact's personal items in the vehicle were damaged. The vehicle was condemned as a total loss by the insurance company. In addition, the contact stated that the failure occurred just minutes after the vehicle was serviced at the dealer for a 45,000-mile routine service appointment. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

There is a lag in the accelerator. It happens 10 to 20% of the time. It is a one or two second lag on the gas pedal. Pretty critical when turning out into traffic. I have al most been hit twice due to car not accelerating properly. I have taken to the dealer twice. They have told me they could not recreate when driving

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Toyota Tundra, Lexus LX, and 2024 Lexus GX vehicles equipped with a V35A engine. Debris from the manufacturing process may contaminate the engine and cause the main bearings to fail, which can result in an engine stall and loss of drive power.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will perform an inspection on the #1 main bearing using vehicle inspection software and drive data, and if necessary, replace the engine. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner letters were mailed August 28, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 25TB14 and 25TA14. Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Tundra, Tundra Hybrid, and 2023-2025 Sequoia Hybrid vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview image not to display when the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A rearview image that does not display reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will update the multimedia display software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 19, 2025. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 25TB10 and 25TA10.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles. Moisture may enter the reverse light assemblies and cause a light failure.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Reverse light failure may reduce visibility, and not alert pedestrians and other drivers that the vehicle is backing up, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace both reverse light assemblies and repair the wire harnesses as necessary, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed May 23, 2026. This is a phased recall. Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023 Tundra, Tundra Hybrid, and Sequoia Hybrid vehicles. The steel chain used to secure the spare tire to the underside of the vehicle may have been insufficiently welded.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Chains that are not welded sufficiently can break and allow the spare tire to detach, increasing the risk of a crash.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles that may be equipped with a Toyota genuine accessory tonneau cover. The tonneau cover attachment joints may come loose and allow the cover to detach.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A tonneau cover that detaches while driving can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Owners of the subject vehicles will be notified by first class mail to return their vehicles to a Toyota dealer. Dealer will install new hardware (bolts, spacers, washers, nuts, rubber washers and cotter pins) to the existing bracket and tonneau cover. If the tonneau cover has tears or splits at the mounting holes to the extent that new hardware cannot be installed, it will be replaced with a new tonneau cover and hardware.
