There is a long-outstanding recall on the external charging system of this vehicle. Toyota delayed the original date of parts availability to 4th quarter 2023. There are no updates to the status of this recall or availability of the repair. I contacted Toyota corporate and they do not have the parts or an expected date and could not offer a loaner vehicle of the same model. Worse yet, if they provided a loaner vehicle, they wanted me to leave my vehicle at a dealership for the entire time of the loaner - with no announced date for the recall repair. I also emailed the Chairman of Toyota directly, but have received no response. Since the risk of this defect is reported to occur at temperatures of 41 or less, it is imperative that Toyota make the parts/repair available immediately, as cold weather has arrived in the US. I request that you immediately contact the manufacturer and issue an update to this recall - hopefully including Toyota actually repairing the affected vehicles, rather than continuing to delay and exposing people and property to risk. It is becoming apparent that this issue may be without a remedy and absent an immediate repair announcement from Toyota, I suggest that you require Toyota to repurchase all of the affected vehicles at full new vehicle replacement cost.

Toyota issued a recall in July 2023 for risk of fire, charging the vehicle below 41 degrees ambient temperature. It has been 5 months to remedy the situation. Over 40,000 vehicles are affected. In Western New York we are experiencing colder temperatures, making it impossible to charge without a risk of fire. I am now having to purchase gas at an higher cost, instead of home charging. My multiple calls to Toyota corporate have not given me a timeline for a solution. If I want to trade my vehicle, I will get a greatly reduced value due to the open active recall.

There’s a recall on my vehicle which Toyota has not remedied in a timely manner which may cause a potential fire. It is stated that the expected remedy to this recall would be replacing the dc-dc converter. I worry every day driving and charging this car about the potential fire risk and I’m having anxiety over this. This recall can put myself and others at risk. We are already in the fourth quarter of 2023 and yet nothing has been resolved. I am paying top dollar for this car and it’s defected.
