2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L

There was a previous recall for camera system that was fixed using a OTA over the air update per JEEP. This update introduced new problems It disabled the forward collision detection and disabled paddle shifting and other safety features which should also be issued as a RECALL because the dealer is not reputable to this on their own. The fix that they did requires customer to come in and have more work done at their expense and they pretend they didn't cause it but clearly this is a major problem across their whole line of Cars.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. While driving approximately 40 MPH, the air bag, ABS, parking brake, check engine, seat belt, and collision warning lights illuminated. Additionally, the messages "START/STOP not ready," "ACC Disabled", "Cruise Control”, “Service Air Bags System", "Blind Spot Alert Off", and "Service ESC" were displayed. The vehicle was taken to an auto parts store, where a handheld diagnostic machine retrieved DTC: U0140. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. There is an “thumping” noise in my dash of my vehicle, as well as a rocking sensation after coming to a stop. I took it to the dealership where they replicated it and determined it to be motor mounts that had failed. It is available if it needs to be inspected by a jeep field inspector. As those motor mounts get worse it could cause major safety issues for motorists I am around at the time of failure and myself alike. No warning lights have came on stating there is an issue.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned? Electrical system: infotainment display module, BCM, passive entry antenna, ignition/start system, and electronic power steering. Vehicle available for inspection. How was safety put at risk? The vehicle locked my children inside and would not start, requiring assistance to open it. The power steering failed for several hours, leaving the car unsafe to drive. Ongoing electrical instability creates unpredictable loss of critical functions. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer? Some issues were confirmed by the dealer (screen blanking, key fob failure, antenna fault, software issues). Others, including the power steering failure and lock-in incident, were not reproduced but were documented and acknowledged. Has the vehicle or component been inspected? Yes. The Jeep dealership has inspected the vehicle multiple times, performed software updates, antenna replacement, PCM updates, and a steering update. They provided history and advised contacting Jeep Cares. Warning lamps, messages, or symptoms prior to failure? Yes. Screen blanking, random language/time changes, stop/start light not working, key fob failure, vehicle not starting, and power steering not activating. Issues began in 2023 and have recurred through early 2025.

We noticed the "battery" indicator light was lit, so we changed the battery. That addressed the light, but soon it lit up again, followed by an overheated engine warning so we stopped and called for a tow to Puente Hills Jeep. We were informed it was a pulley so it was replaced along with the serpentine belt. Soon after receiving the vehicle, it started smoking, and it appeared it was catching fire so we had it towed to the dealer for the second time in one week. We've been informed it's the air conditioner compressor and it will be replaced. The concern is that we're dealing with this so soon after the basic warranty period has expired.

The engine was misfiring, and the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with a misfire in cylinder #5; and two cam shafts were replaced. The contact stated that the metal cam shafts were worn. The dealer expressed that the metal used in manufacturing the cam shafts was too soft. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. After reversing from the driveway, the check engine warning light illuminated and started flashing. The vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The contact was able to pull over in the driveway. The vehicle failed to move. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000. The VIN was not available.
