THIS CAM BEARING ISSUE IS WELL-KNOWN AMONG HD TWIN-CAM OWNERS. MY BEARING BEGIN TO CAUSE THE ENGINE TO VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY SO THAT I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAVE IT SERVICED TO GET THEM TO RIDE IT. THIS CAM BEARING ISSUE IS WELL-KNOWN AMONG HD TWIN-CAM OWNERS. THE TECHNICIAN DECLARED THAT IT WAS INDEED THE CAM BEARING AT FAULT. HARLEY-DAVIDSON REPAIRED THE ENGINE WITH NO EXPENSE TO ME. MY REASON FOR REPORTING THIS INCIDENT IS TO ADD TO THE NUMBERS SO THAT MAYBE HARLEY-DAVIDSON WILL ISSUE A RECALL SO THAT THERE WILL BE NO UNNECCESARY ACCIDENTS/DEATHS.

04V134000 · Electrical System:wiring:fuses And Circuit Breakers

ON CERTAIN TOURING AND POLICE MODEL MOTORCYCLES, THE 40 AMP MAIN CIRCUIT BREAKER CAN "OPEN" FOR REASONS OTHER THAN WHICH IT WAS DESIGNED, CAUSING AN UNEXPECTED INTERRUPTION OF ALL ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE MOTORCYCLE.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THIS CONDITION COULD CAUSE THE MOTORCYCLE TO STALL, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CIRCUIT BREAKER. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN APRIL 23, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT HARLEY-DAVIDSON AT 1-414-343-4056.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTORCYCLES. THE ENGINE CAM BOLT CAN LOSE ITS CLAMP LOAD AND/OR BREAK.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THIS CONDITION CAN CAUSE THE ENGINE TO QUIT RUNNING WITH OR WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. IN SOME INSTANCES, THE ENGINE COULD RUN ERRATICALLY BEFORE QUITTING.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ENGINE CAM BOLTS AND WASHERS.
