Vehicle lost power while normal driving. This happened multiple times. All dashboard lights turn on, then vehicle shut down/shut off. At 65 miles an hour on the interstate, I suddenly lost control of the accelerator and the car immediately began to lose speed. I pulled into the breakdown lane and came to a stop. I put the car in park and attempted to increase the engine speed by pressing on the accelerator. It was only when I jammed my foot to the floor that the engine responded. I then drove the car carefully to a Genesis dealer where I was told that this happens to the GV 70 when it is in Eco mode. The car is now at the dealer who will attempt to fix it, I hope.

The vehicle has also hesitated to go, then bucked then stalled on us during acceleration after a turn. Thankfully, we were on a street that was not busy at the time. The episodes are getting worse and more frequent but the dealership doesn’t seem to want to address the issue even though multiple videos have been sent to the service manager.

The contact owns a 2022 Genesis GV70. The contact stated that while driving at 10 MPH and attempting to come to a stop, upon depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to come to a stop. As a result, the contact collided with the vehicle in front of him. The contact stated that the FWC system failed to activate prior to the collision. The air bags did not deploy. No warning lights were displayed on the instrument panel. A police report was filed. The other driver was transported via ambulance to be treated for undisclosed injuries. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and later towed to an independent mechanic, where it remained. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 21,000.

Hello, I am writing to file a complaint regarding the seatbelt mechanism in my Genesis vehicle and to request an investigation into the issue. The seatbelt system in my car rapidly retracts with no slack. This excessive force can potentially cause serious injuries. Unfortunately, my family and I recently experienced a devastating consequence of this issue. On April 9th, 2022, we were involved in a rear-end collision. We would like to get an answer from if aggressive retraction of the seatbelt, could've resulted in the loss of our unborn child. We are heartbroken and concerned about the safety. We would appreciate your prompt attention to this matter, as we believe that addressing this issue could potentially save lives and prevent further tragedies. The issue reported has been since day one having the vehicle. The hood shakes excessively, sometimes violently, while driving at highway speeds as well as at non-highway speeds if any significant headwind is present. This flapping creates uneven and unpredictable drag that affects the straight-line tracking of the vehicle under normal driving situations. These characteristics are exacerbated by turns at highway speeds and on surface streets on particularly windy days. As the hood rises, air enters the engine compartment and causes uneven pressure changes and an unpredictable swirling and turbulent flow of air that the vehicle is not designed to handle. These combined forces acting on the vehicle throw the lane assist, cruise control, and lane departure warning systems into fits. On more than one occasion I have had to 'fight' the vehicles inputs to stay on the desired track and to avoid departing the road. Aside from immediate safety concerns, the abnormal stresses imposed on the vehicle, components, and tires are causing wear at an unknown rate and a premature component failure is likely. Napleton Genesis attempted to adjust the hood on two occasions prior to claiming to put a new hood on the vehicle. After yielding no positive results, a remedy was sought by contacting Genesis Motor America. They claimed to not know of similar complaints. After several email and phone conversations the vehicle was sent to Pugi Genesis for another failed adjustment attempt. My suspicions that it is a design flaw relating to the 'Clamshell' design of the hood were confirmed by the contact below, who stated on a recorded line on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, that she received an email from 'the engineers' claiming that they are aware of the issue and that they will not follow up because 'it is fine'. During a road trip, the GV70 only having about 5000 miles, a Check Engine light came on. Cause of said warning was fuel injector malfunction. The car still operated normally. The contact owns a 2022 Genesis GV70. The contact stated while attempting to reverse, the vehicle launched forward without warning. The contact then shifted to drive and the back Over Prevention camera screen activated. There was also an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated the battery was low and there was no coolant in the reservoir or radiator. The vehicle was repaired but the failure continued. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer but was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 4,977.

Hyundai Motor America (Genesis) is recalling certain Genesis 2022-2026 GV70, 2023-2025 G90, 2021-2025 G80, and GV80 vehicles. Fuel may leak at the pipe connection between the fuel pipe and fuel rail.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A fuel leak increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and tighten, or replace the fuel pipe as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning July 20, 2026. Owners may contact Genesis customer service at 844-340-9741. Genesis' number for this recall is 033G. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning April 11, 2026.

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Genesis GV70, GV80, G80, and G90 vehicles. The fuel pump may fail, which can result in a loss of drive power.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pump assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 7, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 022G. This recall is an expansion of recall number 23V-630.

Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An exploding seat belt pretensioner can project metal fragments into the vehicle, strike vehicle occupants, and result in injury.
Remedy: Dealers will secure the seat belt pretensioners with a cap, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 14, 2023. For GV60 owners, Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed April 14, 2023. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 012G. This recall supersedes and expands recall number 21V-796. Vehicles previously repaired under recall 21V-796 will need to have the new remedy completed.

On August 8, 2022, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this Recall Query (RQ) based on 3 incidents alleging front seat belt pretensioners that may rupture during deployment, on model year (MY) 2020-2022 of various Hyundai and Kia Models, resulting in 3 injuries (note: one incident occurred outside the U.S. and its territories).Between October 2021 and March 2023, Hyundai and Kia have filed the following 11 safety recalls for pretensioner rupture: NHTSA Recall No. 21V-796, 22V-069, 22V-123, 22V-127, 22V-218, 22V-354, 22V-447, 22V-458, 22V-816, 23V-094, and 23V-210.Hyundai/Kia have stated that the abnormal deployment of the pretensioners is due to over-pressurization of the pretensioner pipe that can cause metal fragments to enter the vehicle occupant compartment, which can result in injury to vehicle occupants.The various makes/models covered by the above recalls include approximately 405,900 certain 2020-2022 Hyundai Accent, 2021-2022 Hyundai Elantra and Elantra HEV, 2021-2022 Hyundai Santa Fe HEV, 2022-2023 Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV, 2020-2022 Hyundai Venue, 2021-2023 Genesis G80, 2023 Genesis G80 EV, 2023 Genesis G90, 2023 Genesis GV60 EV, 2022-2023 Genesis GV70, 2021-2023 Genesis GV80, 2021-2022 Kia Sorento HEV, and 2022 Kia Sorento PHEV.In response to ODI's investigation, in December 2022, Hyundai notified ODI that they would be conducting testing to validate subject vehicle seat belt pretensioners. The tests were intended to evaluate pretensioner deployment characteristics based on the unique deployment signature of the subject and peer vehicles. ODI met with representatives from Hyundai on several occasions during the investigation to discuss testing progress and data. As a result of the testing, Hyundai was able to simulate the pretensioner failures. It was determined by Hyundai during testing, the front driver-side and/or passenger-side seat belt pretensioners may explode upon deployment in the event of a crash which can cause metal fragments to enter the vehicle occupant compartment.Hyundai thus notified ODI of their decision to proceed with a safety recall, to expand the scope of the previous safety actions.In view of the recall actions taken by Hyundai and Kia, ODI concerns have been addressed. The agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances.
