After getting routine maintenance done on 5/29/2023 at Courtesy Hyundai in Tampa, my vehicle stalled numerous times when running the A/C. The compressor kicks on, RPM drops and the car violently jerks before shutting off. The system will only restore if I turn the A/C off. So I assumed the issue was due to the A/C putting pressure on the vehicle. I took it back to the same dealership on 6/6/2023 and they performed a fuel sample and said there was bad gas (high water content) in the tank (even though I only use 93 octane gas from a premium gas station, Shell) and stated the fix action would be to drain the fuel and clean the injectors for $850. I declined because I didn't believe that was truly the problem and wanted a second opinion from a different Genesis dealership. About three weeks later, I was merging on the interstate going 65 miles per hour and the vehicle stalled, lost power and came to an immediate stop. Absolutely nothing worked!!! I almost got hit by multiple vehicles. I waited a few minutes before restarting and the vehicle drove like nothing was wrong. However, this problem continued several times as I was trying to get home. I did notice it was having difficulty accelerating after that. I would say this vehicle randomly stalled in moving traffic more than 10 times in a two month period. I was finally able to get a service appointment with Lakeland Genesis on August 4th. After about a week, I was notified the fuel pump is indeed bad and needs to be replaced, which is what I thought initially. The vehicle has not been repaired yet because the part is on backorder with no ETA. So I'm unsure if replacing the fuel pump is the final fix. We are part of an online GV70 forum and it seems many other owners are going through this same issue. This is extremely dangerous and someone is going to be seriously injured or killed because the vehicle stalls with no warning lights, no alerts, no error codes, no nothing.
The engine lunged several times and then completely died. The car was towed to the dealership and the fuel pump has gone out. There are 7 GV70's sitting there with the same issue. Luckily it stalled in a turning lane and not while driving on the interstate. There is a problem!

This happened twice before I took the car back to the dealer for service. Both times I was driving the vehicle and it suddenly stops accelerating. The car suddenly comes to a stop. I continued pressing the accelerator and the car continued to quickly slow down to a stop. Both times I was in traffic and could have been rear ended or certainly could have caused an accident. The car is currently at the dealer and they have not called me yet to know what they found. I am a member of the GV70 Facebook group and I have seen many other owners who reported the same issue with their vehicle. It truly is terrifying and obviously a safety risk. Some members of the group stated that they were told it was the fuel pump. Genesis needs to get this issue fixed.
The vehicle is shutting down during regular routine driving. Stops in mid traffic with no warning. It is very dangerous and someone could be fatally injured.

It is incredibly dangerous to have a car shut down suddenly especially on a highway.

The contact owns a 2022 Genesis GV70. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle stalled. Additionally, while driving 30 MPH, the vehicle stalled. Additionally, while driving 65-70 MPH the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted, but the failure persisted. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer however, the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Gettel Genesis of Lakewood Gettel (5921 FL-64, Bradenton, FL 34208) but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.

I was driving 72mph on the Turnpike for about 30 minutes when suddenly I felt the car lose all power. The speed immediately started dropping, the RPM’s were very high. I had my foot on the gas pedal and it would not do anything. It was extremely scary being on highway with no power. I was able to make it to the next exit where I pulled into a gas station and turned the car off. I sat there for a few minutes before restarting it and when I did it seemed to reset the system. I was scared to pull over on the highway in case the vehicle wouldn’t reset and I wouldn’t be able to pull out onto the road. This is the 3rd time this vehicle has lost power. The other two times I had just started the vehicle and when I went to go there was no power. There were no warning lights and engine light that came on any of the times this has happened.
Loss of power. Vehicle went into limp mode after a gutter. Dealer diagnosed bad fuel pump.
I have started getting Check limited slip differential pop up on the cluster. This is a known issue and many people have already reported it. There should be a recall on this. Also there are fuel pump issues causing stalling sometimes.

Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A fuel leak increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and tighten, or replace the fuel pipe as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning July 20, 2026. Owners may contact Genesis customer service at 844-340-9741. Genesis' number for this recall is 033G. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning April 11, 2026.

Consequence: An exploding seat belt pretensioner can project metal fragments into the vehicle, strike vehicle occupants, and result in injury.
Remedy: Dealers will secure the seat belt pretensioners with a cap, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 14, 2023. For GV60 owners, Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed April 14, 2023. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 012G. This recall supersedes and expands recall number 21V-796. On August 8, 2022, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this Recall Query (RQ) based on 3 incidents alleging front seat belt pretensioners that may rupture during deployment, on model year (MY) 2020-2022 of various Hyundai and Kia Models, resulting in 3 injuries (note: one incident occurred outside the U.S. and its territories).Between October 2021 and March 2023, Hyundai and Kia have filed the following 11 safety recalls for pretensioner rupture: NHTSA Recall No. 21V-796, 22V-069, 22V-123, 22V-127, 22V-218, 22V-354, 22V-447, 22V-458, 22V-816, 23V-094, and 23V-210.Hyundai/Kia have stated that the abnormal deployment of the pretensioners is due to over-pressurization of the pretensioner pipe that can cause metal fragments to enter the vehicle occupant compartment, which can result in injury to vehicle occupants.The various makes/models covered by the above recalls include approximately 405,900 certain 2020-2022 Hyundai Accent, 2021-2022 Hyundai Elantra and Elantra HEV, 2021-2022 Hyundai Santa Fe HEV, 2022-2023 Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV, 2020-2022 Hyundai Venue, 2021-2023 Genesis G80, 2023 Genesis G80 EV, 2023 Genesis G90, 2023 Genesis GV60 EV, 2022-2023 Genesis GV70, 2021-2023 Genesis GV80, 2021-2022 Kia Sorento HEV, and 2022 Kia Sorento PHEV.In response to ODI's investigation, in December 2022, Hyundai notified ODI that they would be conducting testing to validate subject vehicle seat belt pretensioners. This evaluation included sled testing and software testing which was performed by Hyundai and its suppliers. The tests were intended to evaluate pretensioner deployment characteristics based on the unique deployment signature of the subject and peer vehicles. ODI met with representatives from Hyundai on several occasions during the investigation to discuss testing progress and data. As a result of the testing, Hyundai was able to simulate the pretensioner failures. It was determined by Hyundai during testing, the front driver-side and/or passenger-side seat belt pretensioners may explode upon deployment in the event of a crash which can cause metal fragments to enter the vehicle occupant compartment.Hyundai thus notified ODI of their decision to proceed with a safety recall, to expand the scope of the previous safety actions.In view of the recall actions taken by Hyundai and Kia, ODI concerns have been addressed. The agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances.
