I am filing a safety complaint regarding my 2014 Chevrolet Camaro V6 with the 3.6L LFX engine because the vehicle intermittently stalls and/or will not restart after being driven or exposed to high ambient temperatures. I live in [XXX], where extreme temperatures and extended idling in traffic are normal driving conditions. The vehicle can operate normally and then experience a fuel-delivery-related failure after becoming hot. It may stall or fail to restart and can remain unable to start until it cools down. This makes the vehicle unpredictable and unsafe to operate because I cannot know when it will lose the ability to run or restart. This is especially dangerous in Phoenix traffic. A driver cannot reasonably avoid traffic congestion, extended idling, construction, accidents, or other situations where the vehicle remains exposed to extreme heat. I have had to alter how and where I drive because I am concerned that the vehicle may stall and leave me stranded in or near moving traffic. The vehicle has experienced fuel-system-related diagnostic trouble codes, including P2635 (Fuel Pump Flow Performance), P069E, and P018B. The high-pressure fuel pump has already been replaced, but the problem has continued. General Motors has also issued technical information addressing heat-related fuel system concerns involving this engine/platform. I have raised the issue with Chevrolet/General Motors and have GM case number XXX. Despite the recurring safety-related symptoms, I have not been provided with a permanent repair that makes the vehicle reliably safe to operate under the environmental conditions in which it was sold and is normally driven. My concern is not simply that the vehicle requires repair. The safety issue is that the failure is intermittent, temperature-related, and can cause the vehicle to stall or become unable to restart without adequate warning. In extreme Arizona heat, being stranded also creates an additional safety risk to occupants. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA

KEY RECALL- SINCE THE KEY RECALL HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO THE LAST WEEK WE HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CAR JUST DYING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. IT LOSES ALL POWER AND SHUTS ITSELF OFF. I HAVE CONTACTED ONSTAR AND HAD THEM DO A DIAGNOSIS AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. IT ALMOST COMPLETELY DIED IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY. THANK GOODNESS THAT I WAS NOT ON A BUSY STREET WHEN IT DID DIE COMPLETELY. I LOST ALL POWER STEERING, AND ALL IT WOULD DO IS COAST. I DID HAVE THE KEY RECALL DONE ON MY CAR AND APPARENTLY IT IS MORE THAN JUST THE KEY THAT IS THE ISSUE. THIS MAKES ME SCARED TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE ON A FREEWAY. I DON'T KNOW WHEN IT WILL DIE AND HOPEFULLY NOT CAUSE A HUGE ACCIDENT.

VEHICLE HAS TURNED OFF WHILE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY. STEERING BECOMES UNAVAILABLE MAKING USE OF THIS VEHICLE INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE TO BEGIN REPAIR.

CAR IGNITION KEEPS HANGING UP AND WILL NOT RELEASE KEY UPON SHUT OFF. TRAVELING BETWEEN STATES, A BURNING SMELL BEGAN TO COME THROUGH THE VENTS, THE CAR SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING TRAVELING 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, REMAINING LIT AND APPEARING FULLY FUNCTIONING. IT STRUCK ME AS VERY FAMILIAR TO THE IGNITION ISSUE I HAVE HAD FOR THE WAY THE CAR SHUT OFF AND BEGAN TO ACT. UPON STOP AND ACTUALLY SWITCHING OFF, CAR WOULD TRY TO CRANK, BUT DID NOT CATCH. AFTER TOWING TO DEALERSHIP, CAR CRANKED AND DROVE AS USUAL. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT INDICATED LOW FUEL PRESSURE, AFTER DIAGNOSTICS FOR THE THIRD TIME THE DEALERSHIP IS STILL INSISTING NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THIS CAR. KEY RING HAS A TOTAL OF 3 KEYS AND LIGHTWEIGHT, DEFINITELY NOT WEIGHING DOWN THE IGNITION. THIS IS DEFINITELY COMPUTER RELATED, ELECTRICAL AND AFFECTING THE MECHANICAL ABILITY OF THE CAR AS WELL AS THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER. I SEE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE ONLINE, NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN FOUND AND CHEVROLET IS NOT CORRECTING THIS DESPITE NUMEROUS CAR FIRES REPORTED AND ACCIDENTS PROBABLY CAUSED.

MY 2014 CHEVY CAMARO HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS MANY DO, ON THE CAMARO FORUM. A BAD HEATER CORE THAT FOGS THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD WITH A SMELL OF ANTIFREEZE FROM THE CARPET, VENTS AND WINDSHIELD. AS YOU DRIVE & TURN ON HEAT OR DEFROST, YOU PUT YOURSELF IN DANGER OF BEING ABLE TO EVEN SEE.WITHOUT ANY WARNING. VERY UNSAFE.

Jul 2, 2014

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014 Buick Regal, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Camaro and Chevrolet Impala vehicles. Improperly torqued fasteners may cause the steering intermediate shaft and the steering gear and/or the lower control arm and the lower ball joint to separate.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If any of the components separate, the vehicle may have a loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: GM began to notify owners on June 27, 2014, and dealers will inspect the fasteners for correct torque, correcting them as necessary, free of charge. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-521-7300 (Buick), 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac) or 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet). GM's number for this recall is 14378.

Jun 20, 2014

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling all 2010-2014 Chevrolet Camaro vehicles manufactured December 3, 2008 to May 23, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the driver may accidentally hit the ignition key with their knee, unintentionally knocking the key out of the run position, turning off the engine.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Additionally, a key knocked out of the run position could cause loss of engine power, power steering, and power braking, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will remove the key blade from the original flip key/RKE transmitter assemblies, and provide two new keys and two key rings per key. The recall began August 25, 2014. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 14294. Note: Until the recall has been performed, it is very important that drivers adjust their seat and steering column to allow clearance between their knee and the ignition key.

Sep 26, 2013

General Motors (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013 and 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Coupes manufactured June 9, 2013, through September 6, 2013. In the affected vehicles, the required air bag warning label on the sun visor may peel off. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 208 "Occupant Crash Protection."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the air bag warning label detaches from the visor, the driver and front seat passenger may not be warned of the risks of air bag deployment, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and instruct owners how to inspect the visor sticker. As necessary, dealers will replace the sun visor, free of charge. The recall began on October 28, 2013. Owners may contact GM at 1-800-521-7300. GM's recall campaign number is 13284.
