86V090000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:delivery:hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings

THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE FUEL COCK AND CARBURETOR MAY BE INSUFFICIENT TO ALLOW PROPER CLEARANCE FOR THE OUTLET FUEL LINE CAUSING IT TO CHAFE. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: CONTINUED CHAFING COULD CAUSE THE FUEL LINE TO FAIL, ALLOWING GASOLINE TO LEAK WHICH MAY RESULT IN A FIRE IF A SOURCE OF IGNITION IS PRESENT.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Not supplied

Remedy: INSTALL MODIFIED FUEL COCK THAT ALLOWS ADDITIONAL FUEL HOSE CLEARANCE.

HEAVY LOAD AND/OR HIGHLY COMPRESSED REAR SUSPENSION COULD CAUSE THE REAR BRAKE HOSE TO CONTACT THE PASSENGER'S RIGHT FOOTPEG SECURING STUD, POSSIBLY FRAYING THE HOSE. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE HOSE COULD WEAR THROUGH, CAUSING A LEAK AND RESULTING IN THE FAILURE OF THE REAR BRAKE SYSTEM. FAILURE OF THE REAR BRAKE SYSTEM MAY CONTRIBUTE TO AN ACCIDENT AND PERSONAL INJURY.

Remedy: INSTALL ADDITIONAL GUIDE ON THE BRAKE HOSE HOLDER TO PREVENT EXCESS BRAKE HOSE TRAVEL. ALSO, INSTALL A MODIFIED PASSENGER FOOTPEG.
