I TRIED CALLING THE TELEPHONE NUMBER PROVIDED AND WAITED FOR OVER AN HOUR ONLINE BEFORE I GAVE UP. I ALSO SENT THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TEXT MESSAGES TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE LACK OF FOLLOW-THROUGH, BUT I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RESPONSES. I AM AFRAID OF USING MY CAR DUE TO THE DEFECT. I FEEL THAT THE DEALERSHIPS LACK OF RESPONSE IS UNACCEPTABLE. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP PROVIDE ME WITH A LOANER UNTIL AND WHENEVER THEY REPAIR MY CAR. TAKATA RECALL. IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR SINCE THE ORIGINAL RECALL ( 2/9/16) AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. THIS TIME DELAY FOR A LIFE THREATENING DEFECT IS UNACCEPTABLE.
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Beetle, Beetle Convertible, 2012-2014 Passat, 2017 Passat Wagon, and 2006-2007 Passat Sedan vehicles. The driver's side frontal air bag inflator may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the driver's side front air bag module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 4, 2024. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's numbers for this recall are 69EG, 69GQ, and 69E6.

Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the fuel pump fails, the engine will stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Consequence: AN INSUFFICIENTLY TIGHTENED TIE ROD NUT MAY LOOSEN, RESULTING IN SEPARATION OF A TIE ROD. THIS CAN CAUSE A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL, WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH.
