68 reportsWhen the vehicle hits a bump or you are turning while using the brakes, it feels like the brakes cut out for a moment and the vehicle surges further forward faster than you expect it to.
During braking, when almost stopped, the vehicle lunges forward so I have to press harder on the brake so I don’t hit the car in front of me. No potholes or irregularities in the pavement. It’s just a loss of brakes. It’s happened several times now.
When braking vehicle feels like it is being bumped from behind. Dealership says it is the vehicle switching from regenerative braking to normal breaking but it causes the car to lunge forward. It feels like the vehicle is going to lunge into oncoming traffic. I have to slam on the brakes to stop it. It’s very unsettling.

Passenger side sliding door randomly opens even when car is in the locked mode and when parked. It has happened 4 times. Toyota blames my chair lift and the mobility works blames Toyota. Passenger side sliding door randomly opens even when car is in the locked mode and when parked. It has happened 4 times. Toyota blames my chair lift and the mobility works blames Toyota. Service has not been able to recreate the problem since it is intermittent and has documented the complaint. However the only way to insure it doesn’t happen is to shut off the power to the doors making them difficult to open. This has only happened while parked but is a safety issue when not at home in the garage.

The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Sienna Hybrid. The contact stated that while attempting to use the automatic sliding doors, the driver’s and passenger’s side sliding doors failed to close securely. The contact stated that the doors had to be forcefully closed. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was concerned that the failure could cause an injury or death during the failure. The dealer was not contacted but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

While braking car will lunge forward regardless of speed. It happens several times a week since purchase of vehicle. I had a few near miss accidents where I almost collided with a vehicle in front of me. There is no warning lamp indicator for this event. Investigating on the internet gave me insight that this is a common problem not being addressed by Toyota.
When braking vehicle will accelerate for a brief 1-2 seconds then go back to braking, causing sudden jolts forward and increase distances needed to stop the vehicle, this was only noticed recently in the last 6 months and are at 20K miles as of July 2024, but is becoming more and more frequent, this happened twice on 7/8/2024

Vantage Mobility, LLC (VM) is recalling certain 2021-2026 Honda Odyssey, 2021-2025 Chrysler Pacifica, and Toyota Sienna vehicles equipped with QRT-Deluxe and QRT-Max wheelchair restraints. The retractors may not lock, preventing the wheelchair from being properly secured.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An unsecured wheelchair can move during transit, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the retractors, free of charge. Owner notification letters was mailed January 27, 2026. Owners may contact Vantage Mobility customer service at 1-800-488-9082.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2021-2025 Sienna Hybrid vehicles. The bolts for the seatbacks on the third-row seat assemblies may not be tightened properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 202, "Head Restraints," 207, "Seating Systems," and 225, "Child Restraint Anchorage Systems."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An improperly tightened seatback may not adequately restrain the occupant during a crash, increasing their risk of injury.
Remedy: Dealers will tighten the seat assembly bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 1, 2025. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 25TA05.
