2020 Toyota Camry

Low pressure fuel pump defective. Engine dies and/or surges under load at cruise speeds, sometimes dies at idle. Engine shuts down merging onto highway. Occupant(s) could be hit when pulling out into traffic if engine dies. Problem has been reproduced. Dealership said fuel pump is not covered under previous recall, but Toyota has a TSB stating the VIN# is in the TSB range for the above mentioned concerns. No DTC's are set, no messages set.

I am filing this complaint to report a serious and ongoing issue regarding the unresolved safety recall 23TA15 (Interim Notice 23TB15) for my vehicle, a 2020 Toyota Camry LE (VIN: [XXX] ). The recall is associated with a critical defect where the passenger airbag may fail to deploy (NHTSA #23V865). It has been over 1 year since this recall was issued, and despite repeated visits to Toyota dealerships, I have been informed each time that the required remedy is not yet available. This delay is unacceptable, particularly for a defect that directly compromises the safety of vehicle occupants. The inability of the passenger airbag to deploy in an accident poses a significant risk of severe injury or death. As the owner of this vehicle, I am extremely concerned that Toyota has not prioritized this issue or provided an adequate solution within a reasonable timeframe. I respectfully request the NHTSA to investigate this matter and take the necessary actions to ensure Toyota fulfills its responsibility to provide a timely and effective remedy for this critical safety recall. I would also appreciate guidance on any additional steps I can take as a consumer to expedite the resolution of this issue. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. The contact stated that the "Failure - Ignition Control" message was displayed. The contact stated that occasionally the seat belt warning chime failed to turn off while the seat belt was secured. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle occasionally failed to start, and all four door latches failed to unlock while using the key fob. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Just bought this car in May 2024 and a few months after owning it my check engine light came on. They said the issue is with a coolant bypass valve and the issue is common with Toyota’s like mine. There is currently no recall, warranty is fighting me to fix it and the repairs will cost me over $700! Toyota needs to recall for this issue
