THE ENGINE STARTED TO BURN OIL EXCESSIVELY ABOUT 1 YEAR AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2013 AND NOW IN 2018 THERE ARE 2 CYLINDERS WITH LOW PRESSURE AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME I NEED A NEW ENGINE. THE CAR IS NOT GIVING A CODE : CHECK VSC SYSTEM AND THE CAR CUTS COMPLETELY OFF WHILE DRIVING, NO CONTROL OF BRAKES OR ACCELERATION, VERY DANGEROUS. I WAS TRAVELING ON A CITY STREET AND THE CAR JUST CUT COMPLETELY OFF AND ALL LIGHTS AND BELLS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH BOARD. THE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM ULTIMATELY BURNT THE ENGINE UP AND TOYOTA WOULD NOT REPAIR THE CAR.
HYBRID BATTERY PACK GOES BAD AFTER 150000 MILES AND NEED TO BE REPLACE, CAR SHUTS OF BY IT SELF IN THE HIGHWAY. WHEN CARA IS RUNNING IS AGITA OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD

MY 2007 CAMRY HYBRID HAD A HIGH LEVEL OF OIL CONSUMPTION FROM THE TIME I BOUGHT IT.... WHEN I WOULD TAKE IT TO GET OIL CHANGES THERE WOULD BE NO ADVISING OF A LEAK, SO WHILE I THOUGHT IT TO BE VERY ODD AND INCONVENIENT I CONTINUED TO TOP OFF MY VEHICLE , AS FREQUENTLY AS MY CHECK ENGINE OIL LIGHT CAME ON. ON JULY 26,2017. MY "CAR MAINTENANCE REQUIRED" LIGHT CAME ON I TOLD MYSELF I'D GO TO THE MECHANIC ON THAT WEEKEND WHICH WAS ONLY A COUPLE DAYS AWAY. ONLY JULY 27,2017 ON MY WAY TO WORK I STARTED TO HEAR A VERY LOUD KNOCKING NOISE. I HAD NO CLUE WHAT THE NOISE WAS BUT I PULLED INTO AN AUTO ZONE AND POPPED THE HOOD. IT WAS THE ENGINE THAT WAS KNOCKING VERY LOUDLY. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND I CHECKED THE OIL. THE DIPSTICK WAS BONE DRY. WHERE DID 5 QUARTS OF OIL GO IN LESS THEN 3,000 MILES OF DRIVING? WHY WAS THERE NO ENGINE OIL LOW WARNING ON MY CAR? I TOOK THE CAR TO A SHOP WHERE MY ENGINE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD, WHICH TOYOTA CHARGED ME $115.00 TO DIAGNOSE. THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE THESE MODELS WERE NOTORIOUS FOR DRINKING UP OIL AND I HAD NO IDEA ABOUT IT. THE TOYOTA REP SAID THERE WAS LETTERS SENT OUT BEFORE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED TO THE PREVIOUS OWNER. I HAD NO IDEA THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE! THERE WERE NO LETTERS MAILED TO ME AND I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE RIGHT AROUND THE EXACT SAME TIME THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE TOYOTA MECHANIC SAID I HAVE TO FIND A WAY TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR AND A REBUILD ENGINE IS $5,000 OR I CAN BUY A BRAND NEW ENGINE FOR 12,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THE ONLY REASON I DECIDED TO PURCHASE A TOYOTA WAS BECAUSE OF HOW THEY'RE WELL KNOWN FOR LASTING FOREVER. HOW WAS A SUPPOSED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS SITUATION? AND I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND I HOPE THEY PLAN TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION. IF THE ENGINE HAD GIVEN OUT WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY, I COULD HAVE LOST MY LIFE
TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID 2007 ENGINE OIL BURNING TOO FAST, I DRIVE ONLY 1500 MILES AFTER CHANGED MY ENGINE OIL. IN THE LAST TIME IT WAS DECREASED 1100 MILES. ALSO MY ENGINE COVERED BY ENGINE OILS AND LIKING EVERYWHERE. SECOND, I DROVE YESTERDAY AND MY BRAKE STUCK AND CANT STOP. IT WAS HAPPENED ME SECOND TIME.
AS I WAS TRAVELING ON I75 NORTH OF ATLANTA, I NEEDED TO SLOW FOR TRAFFIC CONGESTION. I APPLIED THE BRAKES, BUT THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO WORK. SEVERAL LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON INCLUDING THE CHECK HYBRID ENGINE, THE CHECK VSC SYSTEM, AND THE ABS LIGHTS. THE POWER BRAKES WERE OFF AND IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO STOP. THEN THE VEHICLE'S ENG…

SEVERAL LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON INCLUDING THE CHECK HYBRID ENGINE, THE CHECK VSC SYSTEM, AND THE ABS LIGHTS. THE POWER BRAKES WERE OFF AND IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO STOP. THEN THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE STOPPED COMPLETELY REQUIRING ME TO MANEUVER OUT OF HEAVY TRAFFIC TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. I TURNED ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS, BUT WAS ALMOST HIT BY SEVERAL VEHICLES AS I GOT TO THE SHOULDER.

Official recalls
315V689000 · Visibility:power Window Devices And Controls
Oct 22, 2015
Toyota Motor Company (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2009-2011 Tundra, Sequoia, Corolla, Corolla Matrix and Scion xB, 2008-2011 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid, 2007 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2009 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2006-2011 RAV4, 2006-2010 Yaris, and 2009-2010 Scion xD and Pontiac Vibe vehicles. During the manufacturing of the Power Window Master Switch (PWMS), grease lubricant may have been inconsistently applied to the sliding electrical contacts.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the sliding electrical contacts are not protected by lubricant, debris and moisture that get into the switch may cause a short circuit and the switch assembly may overheat and melt, increasing the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the switch, applying a lubricant if no abnormality is found. If abnormality is found, the PWMS circuit board will be replaced, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 20, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is C0M.

Toyota is recalling certain model year 2007-2009 Camry, Camry Hybrid, RAV4, Corolla, Corolla Matrix, Tundra, Sequoia, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Yaris, Scion xB, Scion xD and Pontiac Vibe vehicles. The power window master switch assemblies in some of these vehicles were built using a less precise process for lubricating the internal components of the switch assemblies. Irregularities in this lubrication process may cause the power window master switch assemblies to malfunction and overheat.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the switch overheats, it may melt, possibly resulting in a fire.
Remedy: Toyota will notify its owners, and dealers will inspect the switch and apply a special grease that inhibits heat build up or replace any switch damaged by the defect, free of charge. Toyota owners that experience a problem with a switch should not attempt to make repairs, but should contact their Toyota dealer or the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-800-331-4331. General Motors will contact the Pontiac Vibe owners affected by this recall and GM dealers will inspect and repair switches as necessary. Those owners may contact Pontiac Customer Care at 1-800-762-2737.
09V388000 · Vehicle Speed Control:accelerator Pedal
Oct 5, 2009
TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2010 PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAN GET STUCK IN THE WIDE OPEN POSITION DUE TO ITS BEING TRAPPED BY AN UNSECURED OR INCOMPATIBLE DRIVER'S FLOOR MAT.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A STUCK OPEN ACCELERATOR PEDAL MAY RESULT IN VERY HIGH VEHICLE SPEEDS AND MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE, WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH, SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
Remedy: TOYOTA FILED AN AMENDED DEFECT REPORT ON NOVEMBER 25, 2009, STATING THAT DEALERS WILL MODIFY THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND, ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, ALTER THE SHAPE OF THE FLOOR SURFACE UNDER THE PEDAL. THESE CHANGES ADDRESS THE RISK OF PEDAL ENTRAPMENT DUE TO INTERFERENCE WITH THE FLOOR MAT. REDESIGNED ACCELERATOR PEDALS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE BEGINNING IN APRIL 2010 AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY MODIFIED PEDAL WITH THE NEW PEDAL IF DESIRED. ALSO, DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY GENUINE TOYOTA OR LEXUS ALL-WEATHER FLOOR MATS WITH REDESIGNED ALL-WEATHER MATS, OR REPURCHASE THE PREVIOUS MATS FROM OWNERS WHO DO NOT WANT THE NEW ONES. ADDITIONALLY, SOFTWARE MODIFICATIONS WILL BE INSTALLED ON CAMRY, AVALON AND LEXUS ES 350, IS 350 AND IS 250 MODELS THAT WILL ENSURE THAT THE BRAKE OVERRIDES THE ACCELERATOR IN THE EVENT BOTH BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS ARE APPLIED. TOYOTA WILL BEGIN MAILING LETTERS TO OWNERS ON DECEMBER 31, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331, LEXUS AT 1-800-255-3987.

On June 25, 2014, Toyota initiated a Warranty Enhancement Program (ZE1) to extend warranty coverage for the brake actuator assembly and skid control ECU/brake pedal stroke sensor in certain MY 2007 to 2011 Toyota Camry hybrid vehicles. Toyota's program covers repairs related to two conditions:internal malfunctions of the Brake Actuator assembly; and overly sensitive monitoring logic for the Brake Pedal Stroke Sensor.Primary coverage provides warranty enhancement until November 30, 2015, with no mileage limitation. After the primary coverage period ends, secondary coverage is provided for 10 years or 150,000 miles from the date of first use, whichever occurs first. In addition, on July 10, 2014, Toyota initiated Limited Service Campaign E0U to replace the Brake Reservoir Tank in MY 2007 through 2011 Toyota Camry hybrid vehicles. The LSC will be available until June 30, 2017, and will only be available at an authorized Toyota dealer.ODI's analysis of failure data determined that the majority of records were related to the Brake Actuator condition, which appeared to be the causal component in 734 complaints/field reports and 864 warranty claims. The Brake Pedal Stroke Sensor (80 reports/189 claims) and Brake Reservoir Tank (91 reports/44 claims) conditions were identified in far fewer records.Analysis of the failure data indicate that each condition provides warning prior to any reduction in power assisted braking, with less than 10 percent of all reports and claims involving diagnostic codes or complaint narratives indicating increased braking effort or reduced brake effectiveness. In addition, most of the incidents in which reduced braking assist appears to have occurred involved operation in a reduced assist mode and not a sudden, complete loss of power assisted braking.ODI assessed reduced assist mode in a subjective driving evaluation which indicated that the brake system provided normal and harddeceleration capability with reasonable increases in pedal effort.Less than one percent of reports and claims analyzed by ODI included evidence indicating a complete loss of power assisted braking occurred and this mode requires operation for a significant period of time with multiple audible and visual warnings.Repair expense was cited in many of the complaints reviewed by ODI, especially those related to the Brake Actuator, which had repair costs exceeding $3,000 according to some complaints.High repair cost appears to have been a factor in the only crash identified by ODI for the fault conditions identified by Toyota, which involved a Brake Actuator failure that was diagnosed but the owner declined repair approximately eight months prior to the reported crash incident. This preliminary evaluation is closed. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding that a safety-related defect does not exist. For additional information regarding this investigation, including analysis of the Brake Actuator, Brake Pedal Stroke Sensor, and Brake Reservoir Tank fault conditions and failure experience, see Attachment A to this closing resume.
