2014 TIFFIN ALLEGRO MOTORHOME/2013 FORD CHASSIS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED AS HE STARTED TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP AT THE END OF THE EXIT RAMP, THE RV WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. IT SEEMED TO BE MISSING. AFTER SEVERAL CYCLES OF PRESSING AND RELEASING THE ACCELERATOR, THE ENGINE RAN SMOOTHLY AND ACCELERATED. ALSO, THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND BRAKE RESERVE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE 5TH DAY OF OWING THE RV. THE CONSUMER STATED HE EXPERIENCED WHAT WAS KNOWN AS IDLE MODE, WHICH WAS THE ENGINE OPERATION CONDITION IN WHICH THE ENGINE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BY DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. THE RV WAS TAKEN TO THE REPAIR SHOP. HOWEVER, NO ERROR CODES APPEARED FOR THE PROBLEM THE CONSUMER DESCRIBED, BUT DURING A TEST DRIVE, THE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO SEE, WHAT THE CONSUMER WAS REFERRING TO, AS THE INCIDENT OCCURRED 4 TIMES. THE DEALER DID DETERMINE THE BRAKE PRESSURE SWITCH WAS FAULTY, BUT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE BRAKE PRESSURE SWITCH WAS FINALLY REPLACED. HOWEVER, THE WARNING LIGHTS CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE WARNING LIGHTS WOULD COME ON SEVERAL MILES AFTER START-UP. AFTER THE ENGINE WAS SHUT DOWN, THE LIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE IMMEDIATELY AT START-UP. ALSO, THE BRAKE PEDAL SEEMED HARD, IT REQUIRED A LOT OF PRESSURE, TO BRING THE UNIT TO A STOP. ALSO, THE RV WAS LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID. THE DEALER FOUND A FITTING AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POWER STEERING PUMP LOOSE. *JB

Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc. (Tiffin) is recalling certain 2009-2018 Allegro and Allegro RED, Bus and Phaeton vehicles, 2009-2010 Bay vehicles, 2011-2018 Breeze vehicles, and 2009-2015, and 2017-2018 Zephyr vehicles. These motorhomes are equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers that may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. Consequence & remedy

Consequence: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Tiffin will notify owners, and instruct them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on February 5, 2018. 16V397000 · Steering:gear Box:mounting Bracket

Tiffin Motorhomes is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Allegro Phaeton and 2015-2016 Allegro Bus trucks manufactured October 1, 2014 to August 1, 2015, equipped with certain ZF RL77 / 80EM independent front steering axles equipped with Bosch 8018 steering boxes. The boxes were manufactured using incorrect internal spacers that can cause premature wear in the connection between the steering wheel and the front axle.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: The steering wheel's connection to the front axle could fail resulting in a sudden loss of steering ability, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Tiffin will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the steering box if necessary, free of charge. Owners are urged not to drive their vehicles until they have been inspected. The recall began on August 17, 2016. Owners may contact Tiffin customer service at 1-256-356-8661.

Tiffin Motorhomes (Tiffin) is recalling certain model year 2007-2015 motorhomes manufactured May 1, 2007, to December 31, 2014, equipped with certain Coachstep Double and Triple Electric Steps. The bolt that attaches the fan gear assembly to the steps may fracture allowing the fan gear to disengage from the steps. As a result, the steps may not remain in the expected position and may become unstable.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Unstable entry and exit steps increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will install a retainer bracket on the double step assemblies and the Coachstep Linkage Assembly will be replaced and a retainer bracket will be installed on the trip step assemblies. The recall began on Ferbuary 10, 2016. Owners may contact Tiffin customer service at 1-256-356-8661, or Lippert customer service at 1-574-537-8900.

Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc. (Tiffin) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Allegro 33AA motorhomes equipped with an electric fireplace. In the affected vehicles, the fireplace may ignite a piece of exposed wood inside the electric fireplace.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the exposed piece of wood ignites, the rest of the motorhome could also catch fire.

Remedy: Tiffin will notify owners, and dealers will install a heat shield to keep heat from the exposed wood, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Tiffin at 1-256-356-8661.
