FRAME AT WELD NEAR FRONT FORK HAS CRACK, I AM AFRAID TO RIDE IT DUE TO THE DEFECT AND IF IT LETS GO AT THE WELD. SEVERAL MOTORCYCLE SHOPS HAVE LOOKED AT THE CRACK AND ALL STATE THEY BELIEVE IT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT, AND HAVE NOT SEEN WELDS CRACK LIKE THIS. I ALSO SPOKE TO A SUZUKI FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE WHO SAID HE NEVER SAW …

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE MOTORCYCLE CRANKCASE DESIGN ALLOWS THE CREATION OF AIR POCKETS NEAR THE OIL PUMP INLET DUE TO SLOSHING OF THE OIL IN THE CRANKCASE. IF THE OIL PUMP DRAWS AIR, INADEQUATE LUBRICATION TO THE ENGINE OCCURS, CAUSING SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE AND RESULTING IN ENGINE FAILURE.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: SUDDEN ENGINE FAILURE WHILE RIDING COULD CAUSE REAR WHEEL LOCKUP, ALLOWING THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE MOTORCYCLE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL AN OIL PLATE TO PREVENT THE CREATION OF AIR POCKETS IN THE AREA OF THE OIL PUMP INLET.
