THIS IS A 1985 SUZUKI GS550L MOTORCYCLE. THE RECTIFIER/REGULATOR ON THE MOTORCYCLE FAILED. THIS RESULTED IN SUDDEN OVERLOAD TO THE BATTERY. THE BATTERY BEGAN BOILING OVER AND SMOKING FROM THE REGULATOR SENDING TOO MUCH VOLTAGE TO THE BATTERY. THE MOTORCYCLE HAD TO BE STOPPED IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC OR CATASTROPHIC FAILURE WOULD H…

BUZZER WAS NOT INSTALLED TO REMIND DRIVER TO REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY WHEN LEAVING THE VEHICLE. THIS DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD 114, "THEFT PROTECTION".

Remedy: THE STEERING LOCK ASSEMBLY AND A BUZZER WILL BE INSTALLED.
