I WAS DRIVING AT 60 MPH WHEN I FELT THE VEHICLE BEGIN TO SHAKE. OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE TOW MIRROR I SAW RUBBER COMING OFF ONE OF MY STARCRAFT TRAVELSTAR 2003 23RBS. DEBRIS TORE THE FENDER WELL APART AND DAMAGED THE SIDE OF THE TRAILER. I'M UNCERTAIN HOW MANY MILES WERE ON THE TIRE BECAUSE I BOUGHT THE CAMPER USED, BUT APPROX 1/2 THE TREAD IS WORN AWAY. BEFORE THE BLOW OUT THE TIRE HAD NO VISSIBLE DAMAGE AND AT THE BEGINNING OF THE 250MILE TRIP THE TIRE WAS INFLATED TO 50PSI. THE TIRE IS A CARLISLE ST175/80R13.*AK
ON CERTAIN EXPANDABLE TRAVEL TRAILERS, THE REAR BED IS LARGE ENOUGH THAT EXCESS WEIGHT MAY BE PLACED ON THE BED, EXCEEDING THE SUPPORT CAPACITY OF THE BRACKETS.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: THE BED COULD FALL ON SOMEONE CAUSING PERSONAL INJURY.
Remedy: STARCRAFT WILL NOTIFY ITS CUSTOMERS AND STRENGHTEN THE BED BRACKETS FREE OF CHARGE. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN SEPTEMBER 9, 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT STARCRAFT AT
