2006 NU WA HITCH HIKER II, LS FIFTH WHEEL CONCERNING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM POWER CONVERTER. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED ONE EVENING WHILE PREPARING THE HIDE AWAY BED FOR SLEEPING, THEY SMELLED FUMES; LIKE BURNING PLASTIC AND BECAME CONCERNED ENOUGH TO OPEN THE DOOR FOR VENTILATION TO PREVENT SOMETHING SERIOUS FROM OCCURRING. IN CHECKING AROUND FOR WHERE THE ODOR WAS COMING FROM, THE CONSUMER AND HER HUSBAND DETERMINED THAT IT WAS COMING FROM THE INSIDE ELECTRICAL POWER CONVERTER. THE CONSUMER'S HUSBAND REMOVED THE COVER AND SAW THE INSIDE FAN MOTOR PLASTIC PIECE WAS MELTING. THE INTERIOR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM LS DIAGRAM DID NOT INCLUDE A FAN MOTOR OR STATE ANY WARNING OF NOT TO BLOCK THE FRONT COVER AND THE INSIDE OF THE CONVERTER ITSELF. ALSO, THERE WERE NO WARNING STICKERS ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF OVERHEATING CAUSING MELTING OR FIRE. NOTHING WAS LISTED IN THE OPERATIONS MANUAL EITHER ABOUT WARNINGS ABOUT THE CONVERTER. THE CONVERTER WAS PARALLAX POWER CONVERTER 500 SERIES AND ACCORDING TO THE CONNECTICUT ELECTRIC COMPANY THAT MADE THEM, IT SHOULD OF HAD A WARNING STICKER ON THE TOP PANEL OF THE UNIT REGARDING CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR VENTILATION AND IN THE OPERATIONS MANUAL.
