The light component above the dash completely just fell out while i was on the highway, hanging by wires and obscuring my vision. Also there is a Bluetooth audio issue where no one can hear me when my phone is connected via Bluetooth or wired.

While driving at approximately 15–20 mph, my vehicle suddenly started beeping and displayed a quick warning message on the dashboard before the brakes locked up on their own. The incident lasted only a few seconds, but it was extremely alarming. This same issue has now happened twice, both times in the exact same location on the same road, driving at about the same speed. The first incident was roughly around [XXX], the second incident was [XXX]. On both occasions, I had my [XXX] twin daughters in the car with me, and it frightened all of us. Thankfully, there were no vehicles directly behind me either time, otherwise it could have resulted in a rear-end collision. I believe there were cars ahead of me, but they were far enough away that I don’t think they triggered the sensors. Both times it was sunny, dry weather, and the road conditions were normal—no rain, no slick surfaces, and no obstacles in front of me. I am not sure if sunlight could have affected a sensor, but it appears to be related to the vehicle’s automatic emergency braking system or another electronic braking malfunction. The problem has not yet been inspected or confirmed by a dealer, but I plan to have it checked as soon as possible. I STARTED NOTICING THE HEADLIGHTS NOT TURNING ON UPON START UP IN MY GARAGE, THEY HAVE BEEN SET ON AUTO TURNON SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN AUGUST. DRIVING ON CLOUDY,OVERCAST, FOGGY DAYS NOT TURNING ON. NOV.22, APPROX. 6 PM, STARTED CAR, COULD SEE THAT HEADLIGHTS WERE ON WITH DRL ON. PUT IN GEAR, BACKED OUT, ON A CITY STREET, DROVE DOWN STREET ON HEADLIGHTS WENT OFF. HAD TO PARK, TURN VEHICLE ON/OFF, TURN HEADLIGHTS ON/OFF MANUALLY BEFORE THEY CAME BACK ON. THEY WERE SET ON AUTO WHEN THIS HAPPENED. TOOK IT IN TO DEALER NOV.26, THEY SAID NO RECALLS/UPDATES AND WORKING. TOOK OFF, DROVE 15-20 MINUTES AND THE DASH/RADIO/HEADLIGHTS ALL BLINKED OFF THEN BACK ON.??? OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WHEN THEY GO OFF IN THE DARK AND I'M DRIVING. RADIO/MAPS ISSUE. THE RADIO RANDOMLY STOPS PLAYING. ONE TIME TOUCHED MAPS BUTTON TO TURN OFF AND THE WHOLE THING FROZE UP. RADIO NOT WORKING, MAPS NOT WORKING. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY/OR CITY STREET WHEN THIS HAPPENS. TOTALLY RANDOM EVENTS. AFTER IT HAD BEEN TURNED OFF FOR APPROX. 20 MINUTES, RESTARTED CAR AND IT WAS WORKING AGAIN. ON NOV.23 RADIO QUIT PLAYING AGAIN. I'VE ALREADY TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALER 2 TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE. DROVE STRAIGHT TO DEALER, SETUP TO TAKE IN NOV.26. THEY CHECKED IT NO NEW UPDATES, OPENED TECHNICAL TICKET AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD CALL ME. CALLED ME LATER THAT AFTERNOON, SAID NISSAN AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WORKING ON A FIX WHICH COULD BE NEW UPDATE ( NO GOOD), MAYBE REPLACE THE RADIO OR THE COMPUTER IN THE CAR. NO DATES GIVEN AS TO WHEN THIS MIGHT HAPPEN. TOLD JUST GO AHEAD AND DRIVE IT.THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN DRIVING. WHAT WITH THIS RADIO ISSUE AND NOW THE HEADLIGHT ISSUE SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE.

OCTOBER 3, 2018 I WENT TO A LOCAL MALL. ON MY WAY OUT OF THE PARKING LOT LIGHTS STARTED BLINKING ON MY DASH AND THE AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGED UNEXPECTEDLY WHEN THERE WAS NO OTHER CAR NEAR MY CAR EITHER IN FRONT OR ON EITHER SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING STEADILY ABOUT 25 TO 30 MPH ON THE ROAD BEFORE YOU GET TO RTE 100/422 BYPASS. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THIS INCIDENT TO OCCUR SINCE THERE WAS NO OTHER CAR NEARBY, NO DEBRIS ON THE ROAD, AND NOTHING ADHERING TO THE FRONT OF THE CAR NEAR THE SENSOR. I WAS TOTALLY FREAKED OUT BECAUSE THE CAR WAS JERKING, THE CAR (NOT THE DRIVER WAS IN CONTROL) AND IT ALMOST DID NOT STOP AT TA MAJOR INTERSECTION. GOD FORBID I WAS ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION BUT THE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER ABSOLUTE CONTROL OF THE AUTOMATIC BREAKING SYSTEM.

CAR WAS BOUGHT IN MARCH 2018. AROUND 1 MONTH INTO DRIVING THE CAR THE RADIO AND DASH DISPLAY STARTING DOING ITS OWN THING. ONE WOULD SAY RADIO ON, THE OTHER RADIO OFF. AT TIMES, THE CONNECTION MENU WOULD COME AND FREEZE. GOT INTO THE CAR AND STARTED IT AND THE CD STARTED PLAYING LOUDLY, WHICH WAS STRANGE AS WHEN I PARKED AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR I ALWAYS TURN THE RADIO OFF. BLIND SPOT INDICATOR FAILED SEVERAL TIMES WHEN PASSING A TRACTOR TRAILER. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH A STORM COMING THE HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS WENT OUT ALONG WITH LIGHTS GOING DIM FOR NO REASON SEVERAL OTHER TIMES. HAD ONE INSTANCE WHEN PULLED THE WIPERS TO CLEAN THE WINDSHIELD, THE SPRAYER WORKED BUT THE WIPERS DID NOT. ALOT OF ELECTRICAL ISSUES. TOOK TO DEALER 4 TIMES IN A MONTH SO THEY COULD "DUPLICATE" THE PROBLEMS, I ADVISED THAT THERE IS NO PATTERN TO THESE PROBLEMS. THEY TOLD ME TO CALL NISSAN USA IN TENNESSEE, I DID AND WENT BACK AND FORTH AND THEY SENT A NISSAN TECH TO THE DEALERSHIP. HE DIDN'T DRIVE THE CAR AND ADVISED WE DELETE ALL PHONES FROM THE CAR AND DRIVE IT THAT WAY FOR A FEW WEEKS. ALL PROBLEMS STILL GOING ON. NISSAN USA CALLED TODAY AND SAID TO GO BACK TO THE DEALER, THE CASE IS CLOSED AND THE DEALER MAYBE CAN WORK WITH US ON IT. THEY REASSURED ME THAT WE STILL HAVE THE WARRANTY SO THESE PROBLEMS ARE STILL COVERED. ALL INSTANCES HAPPENED WHETHER DRIVING, STARTING OR PARKING THE CAR. SO 4 TRIPS, 2 RENTAL CARS AND 2 DAYS OF MISSED WORK IN A MONTH AND DRIVING WHAT WE FEEL IS AN UNSAFE CAR.

PE19010 · False Automatic Emergency Braking

Opened Sep 9, 2019 · No close date supplied

Status: open (inferred from source dates) · Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking

NHTSA received a defect petition (DP19-001) from the Center for Auto Safety (CAS) on March 21, 2019 alleging that the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system on Model Year (MY) 2017-2018 Nissan Rogue and Rogue Sport vehicles was engaging in cases where there was no obstruction in the path of the vehicle. The CAS petition additionally alleges that, based on Nissan's actions, the manufacturer is aware of the issue due to issuing a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) launching two "Quality Actions," and initiating a "Customer Service Initiative" in relation to it. CAS contends that Nissan's actions do not represent an adequate long-term solution to the problem, as the action is only available during the basic coverage period of the warranty. CAS also argues that the alleged failures are an unreasonable risk to safety and views Nissan's communications as not acknowledging the potential safety issue involved, instead treating the alleged problem as a performance update. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) analyzed Vehicle Owner Questionnaire (VOQ) complaints received from consumers and identified a total of 129 unique subject vehicle reports (for all submission dates) alleging a false positive triggering of AEB. Of these complaints, three were identified that contained allegations of a collision resulting from the activation of the system, and all three indicating related injuries. In response to ODI's April 15, 2019 Information Request letter, Nissan provided data indicating that it has received 750 unique subject vehicle complaints relating to false positive activation of the AEB system. Of these complaints, 12 were identified that contained allegations of a collision resulting from the activation of the system. Four complaints contained allegations of injuries, three of which were the result of a collision. These complaints included duplicates of complaints that ODI received. The injury allegations were limited to soft tissue type injuries such as whiplash and bruising.Based on its review of the information identified to date, ODI has granted the petition and is opening this preliminary evaluation in order to evaluate the cause, scope and frequency of AEB false positive activations, as well as to evaluate the suitability of the manufacturer's campaign to address the concern or improve performance of the AEB system.
