The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that on several occasions, while driving or while idling, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. On one occasion, while making a left turn, the sound from the engine compartment became louder, and the vehicle lost automotive power. The contact stated that the speedometer failed to operate as intended and remained at 0 MPH. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was driven back to the residence but stalled before reaching the driveway. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 167,120.

PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR. This is blinking on my dash. I looked it up in the manual. It stated that the airbag may not deploy in an accident. I also got a recall notice for this same problem and called the dealer. They said that my vin was not included in the recall even though I had the same make, model and year and the same problem. I had a problem with this when the vehicle was new, they fixed it. They wanted two hundred dollars to look at it. Why is this safety problem in my vehicle not included?

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Murano. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact heard an abnormal rumbling sound coming from the rear end of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and became aware that the rear subframe of the vehicle was inoperable. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with corrosion on the rear subframe, causing the rear subframe to fail. The contact was informed that the subframe needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 156,000.

NISSAN IS RECALLING 362,891 MY 2003-2007 MURANO VEHICLES. THE INTAKE AIR DUCTS, WHICH ARE CONNECTED TO THE INTERMEDIATE RESONATOR IN THE AIR INTAKE SYSTEM OF THE ENGINE, MAY SEPARATE FROM THE RESONATOR WITH ENGINE MOVEMENT. THIS SEPARATION OCCURS DUE TO THE PREMATURE AGING OF THE MATERIAL USED IN THE INTAKE AIR DUCTS WHICH CAUSES EXCESSIVE SHRINKING.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: ENGINE MAY STALL INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE/REPAIR THE APPROPRIATE COMPONENTS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 24, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

A VARISTOR IN THE OCS CONTROL UNIT LOCATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION MAY HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED OUT OF SPECIFICATION.
