THE VICTIM SUSTAINED SERIOUS BACK INJURIES FROM A LOADING RAMP ATTACHED TO A BUDGET RENTAL TRUCK (NAVISTAR CHASSIS). ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2005, THE VICTIM WAS USING THE RENTAL TRUCK TO MOVE ITEMS FROM STORAGE. THE VICTIM DECIDED TO USE THE ATTACHED RAMP (MANUFACTURED BY DEMCO) TO EASE THE LOADING AND UNLOADING OF ITEMS. THE VICTIM BEGAN SLIDING THE RAMP OUT FROM BENEATH THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE UTILITY BODY (MANUFACTURED BY UTILIMASTER) WHERE IT WAS ATTACHED. WHILE PULLING THE RAMP OUT, THE RAMP BECAME STUCK. THE VICTIM TUGGED AT THE RAMP TO EXTEND THE REMAINING LENGTH OF THE RAMP. WHEN THE VICTIM TUGGED AT THE RAMP, THE RAMP SPRUNG OUT RAPIDLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY. AS A RESULT, THE RAMP FELL ON THE VICTIM AND PINNED HER TO THE GROUND. AS A RESULT OF THE RAMP FORCING THE VICTIM TO THE GROUND, THE VICTIM SUFFERED MANY INJURIES, INCLUDING A BURST FRACTURE OF HER LUMBAR SPINE. THE VICTIMS INJURIES REQUIRED SURGERY TO FUSE HER VERTEBRATE. *NM
