THE VEHICLE WAS SHOWING NO SIGNS INITIALLY THEN AS I ENTERED THE HWY, THE ENGINE LIGHT, BATTERY AND ALL LIGHTS CAME ON. THEN IT STARTED BANGING LOUDLY AND PULLED OVER TO EXIT BUT THEN THE CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND DIED ON THE SHOULDER OF THE HWY. I BARELY MADE IT OFF AND IT RESTED ON THE EXIT RAMP. I WAS FEARFUL AND SHOCKED AS I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS PREVIOUS TO THIS ISSUE. CAR WAS TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC, HE TURNED THE WORK DOWN BECAUSE IT WAS INTERNAL TO THE ENGINE. THEN IT WAS CONFIRMED BY FRANK LETA MITSUBISHI THAT IT WAS CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM ENTERPRISE 02/09/2019 AS A SECOND OWNER WITH THEIR APPROVAL THAT IT WAS A GREAT CAR. IT IS NOT AND ALL SO ABRUPT!

I HAVE NOTICED THAT WHEN DRIVING OVER ROUGH ROAD, OR AFTER AN ABRUPT POTHOLE, ALL ELECTRONICS IN THE CAR WILL SHUT OFF. AFTER ABOUT FIVE MINUTES A RESET WILL START AND, EVEN THOUGH I'M STILL DRIVING, ALL THE DASH LIGHTS AND TEST WILL GO THROUGH THE CYCLE USUALLY RESERVED FOR WHEN I START THE CAR. IF I HAPPEN TO TURN OFF THE CAR WHILE IT IS IN THIS SORT OF OUTAGE, IT WILL REQUIRE A JUMP TO START. THE RADIO WILL FORGET ITS STATIONS, AND THE CLOCK WILL NEED TO HAVE THE TIME SET AGAIN. I HAVE TRIED MY OWN REMEDIES (LIKE JIGGLING THE FUSE BOX (WHICH DOES NOT SEEM WELL ATTACHED), AND WIGGLING WIRES) TRYING TO TRACK DOWN THE PROBELM WITH NO SUCCESS. MY PRIVATE MECHANIC SAYS THAT HE HAS SEEN THIS IN OTHER MIRAGES AND NEVER FOUND THE CAUSE. IT ONLY HAPPENS ABOUT A SECOND AFTER A LARGE BUMP OR HEAVY REPEATED VIBRATIONS. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED (FROM ENTERPRISE RENTALS), HAVE OWNED IT ABOUT A YEAR, AND IT HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES. THANK YOU FOR THE GOOD WORK YOU DO. I HOPE THIS HELPS.

LOST OF ACCELERATION OR SUDDEN ACCELERATION, HELLO, I PURCHASED THIS MITSUBISHI MIRAGE 2017, AND I DROVE IT FOR 2000 MILES. I HAVE NOTICED THE LOST OF ACCELERATION OR SOMETIMES SUDDEN ACCELERATION WITHOUT PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. I AM REPORTING MY MITSUBISHI TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE, AND I AM ASKING IF THIS PROBLEM CAN BE A TRIGGER FOR A RECALL ABOUT THIS CAR. I WANTED TO STOP FOR A STOP SIGN, BUT THE CAR DID A SUDDEN ACCELERATE, AND I HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKES HARD. I HAD 3 PASSENGERS IN THE CAR, AND THE ACCELERATION WAS LOSING POWER, AND I HAD TO DRIVE MY CAR VERY SLOW. BUT WHEN I DROPPED THE PASSENGERS, THE CAR WAS DRIVING FINE.
Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Mirage vehicles. The internal acceleration sensor in the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Electronic Control Unit (ECU) can misinterpret vibrations such as those from poor road conditions or a flat tire to be a sensor error thereby disabling the air bags from deploying in a crash.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Air bags that do not deploy as designed in a crash increase the risk of injury.
Remedy: MMNA will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the SRS-ECU software, free of charge. The recall began on November 10, 2017. Owners may contact MMNA customer service at 1-888-648-7820. MMNA's number for this recall is SR-17-006.
Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) is recalling certain model year 2017 Mirage vehicles manufactured October 28, 2015, to August 4, 2016 and equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps. The affected vehicles may have been assembled without the headlight horizontal adjustment lockout clips properly secured. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirement of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Without the horizontal adjustment locking clip being secured, the headlight can be adjusted to either reduce the driver's visibility or blind oncoming vehicles. Both conditions can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: MMNA will notify owners, and dealers will secure the horizontal locking clips as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on September 3, 2016. Owners may contact MMNA customer service at 1-888-648-7820. MMNA's number for this recall is SR-16-008.
