The contact owns a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer. The contact stated that after a while the system would erase any safety information used to track mileage and only show the GPS feature on the digital screen with information from 2004. The contact stated he used the digital screen for the safety features. Upon further inspection, the battery would be drained at an abnormal rate while using the Bluetooth features, and the Bluetooth would not work outside of the local dealer parking lot. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the digital screen and transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

2008 MITSUBISHI LANCER OIL TRANSMISSION COOLER HAS CORRODED FROM NORMAL USE. THE CAR WAS MAKING A WANING NOISE WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE ALL THE FLUID HAD LEAKED OUT FROM THE TRANSMISSION COOLER DUE TO CORROSION. NO SENSORS OR ANYTHING WENT OFF, ONLY NOTICED UPON INSPECTION OF THE CAR ONCE I ARRIVED HOME. SIMILAR RECALL WAS MADE ON THE 2010 MITSUBISHI GALANT (HTTP://WWW.MITSUBISHISUCKS.COM/CARS/RECALLS/USA/201003.HTML) SO IT IS NO DOUBT THAT THE LANCER MOST LIKELY HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH A SIMILAR PART.

I RECEIVED 3 LETTERS IN THE MAIL REGARDING A IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL CONCERNING MY DRIVE BELT SYSTEM I CALLED THE LOCAL MITSUBISHI DEALER SHIP AS WELL AS THEIR CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE PART THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED IS ON BACK ORDER. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY CAR AND ITS BEEN SINCE OCT 2014 ITS OVER 6 MONTHS AND I'VE NOT HEARD FROM EITHER THE DEALER SHIP OR THE CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS. EVERY TIME YOU CALL AND ASK FOR AN UPDATE THEY SAY THEY DON'T HAVE A CONFIRMED TIME WHEN THE PART WILL BE IN STOCK AND THEY CONTINUE TO GIVE ME THE RUN AROUND. AT THIS RATE MY CAR WILL GROW OLD, BEFORE ANYTHING CAN BE DONE. *TR

IT HAS BEEN NOTED THAT CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER IN 2008 MITSUBISHI LANCER ES (BASE MODEL) IS THE SAME AS ONE BEING RECALLED IN 2008-2013 MITSUBISHI LANCER EVOLUTION X. THIS IS A SECOND TIME THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER HAS FAILED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I WOULD LIKE FOR MITSUBISHI CORP. TO LOOK INTO THE RECALLING BASE MODELS FOR THIS ISSUE AS THEY HAVE IN THE FOLLOWING SR-13-009. FAILURE OF THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER REDUCES THE ABILITY TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO OR OUT OF GEAR, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. *TR

09V435000 · Air Bags:frontal:sensor/control MODULE-INACTIVE

Nov 5, 2009

MITSUBISHI IS RECALLING MODEL YEAR 2008-2009 LANCER AND LANCER EVOLUTION VEHICLES ORIGINALLY SOLD IN OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE STATES OF CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, IOWA, KENTUCKY, MAINE, MARYLAND, MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN, MINNESOTA, MISSOURI, NEW HAMPSHIRE, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA, RHODE ISLAND, VERMONT, VIRGINIA, WEST VIRGINIA, WISCONSIN AND DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. IN AREAS WHERE HEAVY ROAD SALT IS USED IN THE WINTER, A LONG TERM EXPOSURE TO A MIXTURE OF MELTED SNOW WITH SALT THROWN UP BY THE OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD MAY CAUSE A WATER-SALT MIXTURE TO ADHERE TO THE FRONT IMPACT SENSORS.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THIS COATING OVER TIME MAY CAUSE CORROSION OF THE SENSOR. IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH OF THE TYPE THAT WOULD DEPLOY THE AIRBAGS THIS TYPE OF SHORT-CIRCUIT MAY CAUSE A DELAY IN THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAGS WHICH COULD RESULT IN DRIVER OR PASSENGER INJURY.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL NEW FRONT AIRBAG SENSORS THAT HAVE IMPROVED CORROSION RESISTANCE. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 27, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MITSUBISHI CUSTOMER RELATIONS DEPARTMENT AT 1-888-648-7820.

Mar 10, 2009

MITSUBISHI IS RECALLING 39,711 MY 2008-2009 OUTLANDER AND LACER VEHICLES. INCORRECT MATERIAL COMPOSITION OF THE BRAKE BOOSTER CHECK VALVE MAY CAUSE THE CHECK VALVE TO STICK CLOSED WHEN THE ENGINE IS SHUT OFF. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RE-STARTED AND PUT INTO MOTION, UNDER CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS (VERY SLOW VEHICLE MANEUVERS), THERE MAY BE INSUFFICIENT INITIAL BRAKING ASSIST.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THIS MAY TEMPORARILY INCREASE THE STOPPING DISTANCE OF THE VEHICLE AND THEREFORE INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE BRAKE BOOSTER CHECK VALVE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING APRIL 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MITSUBISHI AT 1-800-222-0037.
