My RPM'S reaved up real high while driving 60mph and all the sudden the car down shifted and I had to put car in neutral in order maintain control. The traction control light and heck engine lights came on same time, lost power to the car the navigation and radio and dash lights, had no power to drive train, had vechile dinogstic check done at O'Reilly auto and they told me it was a PCM power control module. And I called the mazda dealer in Fostoria ohio the macanhic told me the PCM power control module had been reprogram and I never received no notice on any recalls or the person I bought my car never either. My car is 7 years old and if it war reprogram it should not go bad that soon. Unless there is a problem with there components there using. But my car will cause a accident if I continue to drive it. I like my mazda6 2015 but I'm afraid after having the car doing what it did to me on the highway. I had no warning lights come on until the day I was driving down the highway when this problem occurred.

ON NOV 27 16 THE FOLLOWING SAFETY ISSUE OCCURRED TO MY AUTO. WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 20-25 MPH IN SLOW TRAFFIC MY VEHICLE THREW ITSELF OUT OF GEAR, THE ENGINE RACED, AFTER A COUPLE OF SECONDS IT VIOLENTLY WENT BACK IN GEAR. PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING THE TRANSMISSION HAD LOCKED UP TWICE AND THE AUTO COULD NOT BE MOVED. BY TURNING THE IGNITION ON AND OFF THAT LOCK-UP WAS FREED. DURING THIS SAME DRIVING PERIOD THE FOLLOWING MALFUNCTION LIGHTS ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY; ENGINE LIGHT, LOW TIRE PRESSURE, AIR BAG, TRACTION CONTROL (REPEATEDLY). THE AUTOS ENGINE WAS MISSING INTERMITTENTLY RUNNING ROUGH. OPERATING CONDITIONS: AMBIENT TEMP: 78F, NO WIND, DRY ROADWAY, NO PRECIPITATION. I CONTACTED MANUFACTURERS MAZDA ASSIST, THEY REQUESTED TOWING, AUTO IS NOW AT THE DEALER IN (WALLACE) IN STUART, FLORIDA, I INFORMED MAZDA ASSIST THAT I CONSIDERED THE CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE, AS I AM HANDICAPPED AND THE HOLIDAY TRAFFIC WAS TOTALLY JAMMED I WAS FORCE TO DRIVE SLOWLY HOME ON THE 20 MPH FLA TURNPIKE.. *TR

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE OCCURRED AS FOLLOWS: TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH IN CITY TRAFFIC (TAYLOR STREET, COLUMBIA SC). CAR LOST POWER AS IF THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN NEUTRAL. WARNING DISPLAYED ON DASH "ATS FAILURE." I POWERED OFF THE ENGINE AND RE-STARTED ENGINE AND DROVE APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET BEFORE TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP AFTER 4TH ATTEMPT. TECHNICIANS LABELED THE ISSUE AS A "FLUKE" AND THEY COULD FIND NO REASON FOR FAILURE, ALTHOUGH THEY DID VERIFY THE CODE P0780 WHICH STATED TO RE-PROGRAM THE TRANSMISSION. IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE (WHICH I HAD BEEN EARLIER IN THE DAY), THE CONSEQUENCES COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE SERIOUS.

WAS FOLLOWING A CAR AND CAME UP TO A STOP LIGHT. I DEPRESSED BRAKE PEDAL AND FELT SOME RESISTANCE BUT CAR WOULD NOT STOP. FELT LIKE THE BRAKES WERE BEING BLED OFF BY PERHAPS COMPUTER CONTROL. I SWITCHED INTO A RIGHT HAND TURN LANE THAT WAS CLEAR, CAR STILL NOT STOPPING. SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL, AND ENGINE STARTED TO REV UP PERHAPS TO 4500 RPM OR SO, THEN ENGINE WENT BACK TO IDLE ON ITS OWN. THE CAR HAD STOPPED AND I PUT IT IN PARK. WE THEN TURNED RIGHT AND CAUTIOUSLY PROCEEDED HOME, WITHOUT A FURTHER PROBLEM. TOOK TO DEALER AND REQUESTED THE MEMORY BE ANALYZED, THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT READ THE BLACK BOX AT THE DEALERSHIP. IT SHOWED NO FAULTS. TEST DRIVE WAS UNEVENTFUL. I AGAIN REQUESTED THE BLACK BOX BE ANALYZED AS THE BRAKES APPEARED TO BE BLEEDING OFF. THEY SAID THEY WOULD LET ME KNOW IF MAZDA NEEDED ANYTHING MORE. MY BACKGROUND INCLUDES AUTO MECHANIC, TOW TRUCK DRIVER, CAR DEALERSHIP, TECHNICIAN, SOFTWARE ENGINEER, AND ANALYST. *TR

Official recalls

17V393000 · Parking Brake

Jun 22, 2017

Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain 2014-2015 Mazda6 and 2014-2016 Mazda3 vehicles. Water could possibly enter the brake caliper causing the parking brake actuator shaft to corrode and possibly bind.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the parking brake actuator shaft binds, the parking brake may not engage or disengage fully. If the parking brake does not engage properly, the vehicle may move unexpectedly if it is parked on a slope, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will check the parking brake actuator shafts, replacing any that are corroded, free of charge. Remedy parts are currently unavailable. Interim notices informing owners of the safety risk were mailed August 24, 2017. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500. Mazda's number for this recall is 1217F.

14V675000 · Tires:pressure Monitoring And Regulating Systems

Oct 27, 2014

Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Mazda6 vehicles manufactured October 25, 2012, to October 10, 2014. If the pressures of four of the tires on an affected vehicle gradually drop at the same time, the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) may not warn the driver of the drop in pressure. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring System."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A vehicle that is driven with under inflated tires may experience a sudden tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will update the TPMS software, free of charge. The recall began on December 10, 2014. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500.

14V173000 · Electrical System:alternator/generator/regulator

Apr 3, 2014

Mazda North America Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain model year 2014 Mazda3 vehicles manufactured June 12, 2013, through December 18, 2013, and model year 2014-2015 Mazda6 vehicles manufactured May 20, 2013, through December 4, 2013, and both equipped with a 2.5L engine and a regenerative engine braking system. When driving the affected vehicles in heavy rain or in deep puddles, the alternator belt may slip causing the Power Control module (PCM) to incorrectly assume failure of the charging system.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Once the PCM assumes that the charging system has failed, the vehicle will stop charging and could result in poor acceleration, loss of steering assist and windshield wiper operation, and a possible engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the PCM with updated software, free of charge. The recall began on May 19, 2014. Owners may contact Mazda at 1-800-222-5500. Mazda's number for this recall is 7314D.
