I am reporting multiple ongoing safety and reliability issues with my 2024 Mazda CX-90, which have persisted despite multiple service visits and the vehicle being under warranty. Issues include: •Premature tire wear: OEM Falken tires worn to unsafe levels (approximately 3/32”) before 15,000–20,000 miles •Faulty fuel gauge providing inaccurate readings •Intermittent headlight malfunction, creating visibility and safety concerns •Battery failure requiring replacement at approximately 24,000 miles •Engine malfunction warnings advising the vehicle should not be driven •Loud and abnormal brake noise •Remote start system failure The vehicle has been out of service for an extended period (10+ days), and I no longer feel it is safe or reliable to operate. I am particularly concerned about the overall safety of this vehicle given the pattern of system failures and reports of similar issues. Mazda has not provided a resolution beyond continued repairs, and I have lost confidence in the vehicle’s safety.

What failed and is it available? The factory-equipped Yokohama Geolandar tires (specifically the X-CV model, 265/55R19) have experienced extreme, premature wear. They are currently on the vehicle but are in a failed state. How was safety put at risk? As of March 11, 2026 (22,567 miles), tread depth has reached 1/32" and 2/32". This renders the vehicle legally unroadworthy in Pennsylvania and creates a severe safety risk for hydroplaning and increased braking distances. Has the problem been confirmed by a dealer/manufacturer? Yes. Dealer records from July 2025 (12,402 miles) show the tires were already at 4/32", meaning they were 70% worn after only 10 months of use. The dealer contacted the tire manufacturer, who denied a defect claim. Mazda North American Operations (Case #00423913 as filed with Mazda Customer Experience Center) also formally denied assistance on March 10, 2026. Were there symptoms or warning signs? No dashboard lights appeared. The issue was discovered during routine maintenance. Based on the extremely rapid and uniform wear documented so early in the vehicle's life (at 12k miles), I believe this is either a defect in the factory-supplied tire materials or a systemic issue with the vehicle’s factory alignment/suspension geometry. As the consumer, I am left with an unsafe vehicle that the manufacturer refuses to rectify.

The condition was identified during inspection by a national tire service center and documented on video. The component remains on the vehicle and is available for inspection. The dealership has been notified of persistent brake noise during the last five oil change visits, but the concern has not been resolved. Safety Risk: The loose and eroded lower control arms create a significant risk of: •Loss of steering control •Suspension instability •Increased likelihood of component failure •Potential crash risk at highway speeds There were no warning lights related to suspension failure prior to discovery. The defect was identified during independent inspection rather than through vehicle alerts. Confirmation: The condition was observed and documented by an independent service center. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 26 complaints and several Early Warning Reporting (EWR) Field Reports alleging intermittent and brief increases in steering effort (described as “sticky steering”) during the drive cycle in model year (MY) 2024 CX-90 vehicles manufactured by Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) subject to Recall 24V2022. In each complaint, the vehicle had the recall remedy completed prior to the reported incident. Recall 24V022 addresses a sudden and unexpected change of steering effort while driving caused by excessive worm gear friction force. After receiving the recall 24V022 remedy, consumers report sudden increases of steering effort while driving. Sudden and unexpected change of steering effort while driving may increase the risk of a crash. ODI is opening this Recall Query (RQ) to assess the adequacy of the remedy for Recall 24V022 and to identify the cause(s) of the conditions leading to the post-remedy reports.
