Safety Risk: Severe risk of sudden blowout, loss of vehicle control, and highway accident due to structural failure and internal belt separation. Dealer/Center Confirmation: Confirmed as a manufacturer defect by American Tire Company during a routine maintenance rotation on July 3, 2026 (fully documented by their shop). Inspections: Inspected and documented by American Tire Company; Goodyear management reviewed the documentation and refused full replacement under the guise of wear and mileage. Warning Lamps / Symptoms: No warning lamps; structural delamination and internal belt separation discovered during routine maintenance. Detailed Summary Description: On July 3, 2026, a routine maintenance rotation at American Tire Company revealed a dangerous structural failure across all four Goodyear tires. The technician states delamination, belt separation on all four tires, structural failure, tire separating from the internal belt structure, with chunks of tread missing and steel belts exposed. When the defect was submitted to Goodyear, July 6, 2026) they refused full warranty replacement, demanding $48.57 per tire under the guise of "wear and mileage." When escalation was requested, company supervisor representative stated there was no higher authority than the supervisor and admitted that internal complaints are dead-ended in their files and never forwarded or reviewed. This stonewalling on a dangerous manufacturing defect poses a severe public safety risk.
Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain 2024-2025 CX-50 vehicles equipped with Mazda Genuine Accessory trailer hitches. The trailer hitch assembly bolts may loosen and cause the assembly to separate from the vehicle body during towing or normal driving conditions.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A detached trailer hitch assembly can create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will tighten the trailer hitch bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 4, 2025. Mazda's number for this recall is 7225C.
