CAR SLOWED ON HIGHWAY IN HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC CAUSING CARS TO HAVE TO JUST MISS ME FROM BEHIND. I WAS TOTALLY FREAKED, HAD TO HAVE 3 ENGINE IGNITION COILS REPLACED. I'VE HAD 2 MORE SINCE THEN.JUST REPLACED A FUEL TANK ALSO, THIS CAR HAS LESS THAN 46,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS COST ME OVER $4500 IN 2 YEARS. I AM ON SS AND 76 YEARS OLD, I'M AFRAID TO EVEN DRIVE THIS CAR, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE ABOUT THIS? I'VE OWNED FORDS ALL MY LIFE BEFORE PURCHASING THIS AWFUL MACHINE CALLING ITSELF A CAR. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE NOT TIGHTENED TO SPECIFICATIONS WHEN THEY WERE ATTACHED TO THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: IF THE BALL JOINT ATTACHING NUTS ARE NOT ADEQUATELY TIGHTENED, THEY CAN LOOSEN AND, ULTIMATELY, RESULT IN FRACTURE OF THE BALL JOINT STUD. IF THE BALL JOINT FRACTURES, CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE COULD BE AFFECTED, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE TORQUE ON THE TWO BALL JOINT ATTACHING NUTS. VEHICLES WITH LOOSE BALL JOINT ATTACHING NUTS WILL EITHER HAVE THE FASTENERS TIGHTENED TO SPECIFICATION, OR IF NECESSARY, THE BALL JOINTS WILL BE REPLACED.
