2023 Jeep Wagoneer

Vehicle: 2023 Jeep Wagoneer Series II 4WD VIN: [XXX] I am reporting a significant vibration/shaking condition in my 2023 Jeep Wagoneer. At approximately 75 MPH, the vehicle develops a noticeable shudder/shake that can be felt while driving at highway speeds. The condition is repeatable and raises concerns about the stability and safety of the vehicle during normal interstate/highway driving. I am concerned because other Wagoneer owners have reported similar highway-speed vibration conditions. I would like the cause of this vibration properly identified rather than having it attributed to normal vehicle characteristics. The vehicle should be evaluated for possible tire/wheel road-force variation or runout, suspension components, propeller shaft/driveshaft, CV joints, transfer case/output components, or other driveline components that could produce a speed-related vibration. This vehicle also has a history of having been reacquired by the manufacturer pursuant to applicable state consumer warranty laws or to promote customer satisfaction, according to the CARFAX report I obtained after purchasing the vehicle. I am requesting that NHTSA document this complaint and evaluate it along with other complaints involving highway-speed vibration/shaking in Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer vehicles. The vehicle will severely vibrate when traveling 60mph or higher. Faster speeds increase the vibration intensity. I used a vibration meter on the steering wheel and drove on a smooth highway. Multiple tests/results were all similar, the vibration meter would register up to 10.3 and avg in the mid 4s and 5s. A 5.8 equates to a Level VI Strong Earthquake on the Mercalli Intensity Scale. The vibration is so violent the steering wheel shakes uncontrollably causing a strong fear of losing control. We live in rural Nevada with open desert and spotty cell service for most of the drive from Pahrump NV to Las Vegas. We were afraid to drive the vehicle due to the handling issues, that something happening in the middle of nowhere. Jeep customer support denied, obstructed and overall refused to help. Was assigned to several agents and supervisors and after filing the initial report, message requests were rarely returned. I was ultimately told by Customer Care, “it was my problem not Jeeps”. The first dealership I went to refused to look at the car unless I paid them for unnecessary work I then went back to Jeep Only in Las Vegas (where I purchased vehicle) and they quickly acknowledged the severe vibration issue was a common problem and they have serviced this problem on many other Wagoneer’s in the past. I worked with Evan the Service Advisor and Tigh Pesicka the Service Manager and they assured me the problem was with Jeep’s paring of the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza tire and the Wagoneer. The Bridgestone was a passenger tire and the Wagoneer due to its weight needed light truck rated tires. Evan at Jeep Only recommended the Continental Terrain Contact A/T tires, I purchased them and it lessened the severity of the vibration. The dealership failed to get Jeep to cover the new tire, so they said I will have to pay for them and sue Jeep for reimbursement. A quick search you will find many examples of Wagoneer Owners with the same issue.

2023 Jeep Wagoneer Series III 4x4 ~34,582 miles. Service dates: Aug 18–20, 2025. Work included a 4-wheel rotation on Aug 19. Vehicle is equipped with aftermarket Fuel Off Road D679 REBEL wheels that use spacers, sold with the pre-owned vehicle by a licensed dealer. What failed: After the rotation, the front-right wheel fasteners lost clamp load on drive from dealership. On inspection, four of six lug nuts were very loose/near removal and the wheel could be moved laterally by hand. Suspected contributors: (1) misalignment of polyurethane spacer during re-installation, leading technician to believe wheel fasteners were “torqued-to-spec,” and (2) interaction between spacer/wheel seating surfaces and the hub during movement. All components are available for inspection upon request. Video of the condition and photographs of the spacer are available; the dealer reports relevant in-shop CCTV exists. Safety risk: Loss of clamp load during vehicle operation created sufficient lateral wheel movement to be felt as wobble/thumping of steering wheel, with risk of wheel separation/loss of control. Reproduction/confirmation: The dealer confirmed the issue, and reported findings to customer. According to the Service Manager, the post-incident follow-up inspection (Aug 20) found the front-right spacer had shifted off-center during the tire rotation service, allowing the wheel to reach false-secure position and the fasteners to reach a proper torque without properly seating. This led to clamp-load loss as the spacer re-seated in subsequent vehicle operation, particularly as speeds increased. Inspections performed: The dealer inspected the vehicle on Aug 20 after towing back to the Jeep dealership. Customer has notified manufacturer of this incident and is awaiting response. Warnings/symptoms: No vehicle warnings. Around 1 mile into the drive from dealership, a slight wobble and then a repeating thump developed, that worsened by arrival at destination, prompting inspection.
