My 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer has been subject to an open safety recall involving the rear passenger-side window trim since I purchased the vehicle in 2025. I scheduled and attended numerous appointments with the authorized Jeep dealership seeking completion of the recall repair, but the defect was never remedied. On September 7, 2026, my husband was driving the Grand Wagoneer while I followed behind in another vehicle. My two toddlers were occupants of my vehicle. Before the incident, I observed the recalled rear passenger window trim flapping and becoming loose. The trim then detached completely from the Grand Wagoneer while both vehicles were traveling at approximately 75 mph on the highway. The detached trim entered or moved toward my vehicle’s path, forcing me to swerve suddenly to avoid striking it. This created an immediate risk of losing control, colliding with another vehicle, or leaving the roadway. The incident endangered the occupants of both vehicles, including my two young children, as well as other motorists. Fortunately, no collision or injuries occurred. The flapping trim was the only warning immediately before it detached. The dealership had prior notice of the unrepaired recall because I had brought the vehicle in approximately four times beginning in November 2025. Despite those appointments, the recalled component remained on the vehicle and ultimately failed in the manner the recall was intended to prevent. The vehicle and photographs of the affected area are available for inspection. The detached trim was recovered. Dealership service records and recall communications documenting the unsuccessful repair attempts are also available.

There have been multiple recalls (77C and 88C) affecting 2022-2025 Wagoneers where the trimming was not properly secured at the vehicle assembly plant. Our rear window trim was affected by one of these recalls and has fully detached from our vehicle while we were driving which has yet to be replaced by the dealership. I have attached a picture to show our rear window trim that is missing. We are having a similar issue with our front passenger window trim but the dealership has stated this is not part of the recall but based off the pictures attached it is evident that the retainer clips were also not fully engaged in this part of the window trim and is beginning to detach and pose as a road hazard if it completely detaches from the vehicle while driving.

There were 2 recent safety recalls (77C and 88C) that affected numerous 2022-2025 Grand Wagoneer vehicles regarding the window trim. One of the recalls directly affected our vehicle where the rear trim detached and flew off our vehicle. The dealership has yet to replace this rear trim stating that the window has to be replaced as well and is currently on backorder. The bottom half of our window trim on the passenger side is also starting to detach from the vehicle but the dealership states that it is not part of the recalls associated with our vehicle. It is a similar issue where the trim was not properly secured. The retainer clips are clearly not fully engaged which can be seen in the attached photos. I have also included a photo of our rear trim to show how it has completely detached from our vehicle so clearly an issue at the vehicle assembly plant with our vehicle. If this bottom half of our passenger window trim detaches while driving it will pose a road hazard to operators and occupants of other vehicles.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the hood of the vehicle suddenly became unsecured and flew open, striking the front windshield, and creating a visibility hazard for the driver. The contact indicated that the locking mechanism bolts had erroneously unscrewed from the hood causing the failure. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the hood and locking mechanism and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 4,000.
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Jeep Wagoneer, 2022-2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, 2023-2025 Jeep Wagoneer L, and 2023-2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L vehicles. The pivot bolts for the roof rack crossbars may not have been tightened properly, allowing them to detach.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Detached roof rack crossbars can create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
