I am filing a formal safety complaint regarding my hybrid Jeep vehicle due to ongoing and unresolved safety issues that present a significant risk to myself and others. Since the beginning of ownership, I have experienced repeated and escalating problems with the vehicle, including: * Hybrid system malfunction warnings and persistent red wrench indicator * Aggressive and unsafe gear shifting while driving * Vehicle stalling unexpectedly * Vehicle intermittently failing to turn on or shut off properly In addition to these critical concerns, my vehicle has been under Recall 68C since October 2025. To date, there has been no available remedy provided. I have been explicitly instructed not to park the vehicle in a garage or near structures and to avoid charging the vehicle due to an increased risk of fire. This situation has created significant hardship and safety concerns. I am unable to safely use or store my vehicle as intended. I have also been informed that potential fire damage related to this issue may not be covered by homeowners insurance, further increasing the risk and liability I am being forced to assume. Despite repeated attempts to address these issues through proper channels, including dealership service visits and manufacturer communication, no resolution has been provided. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road, and the contact exited to inspect the vehicle but found no failure. The vehicle was taken to the residence, and then to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the axle and passenger’s side rear tension link were bent and lodged into the knuckle, the passenger steering knuckle was fractured with a fractured bolt inside, and the passenger’s side rear tension link, CV axle, and steering knuckle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred approximately 8 weeks later on the driver's side. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the rear passenger’s side of the vehicle, and the vehicle started pulling to the left. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and inspected, but the contact found no visible failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the driver's side rear axle and driver's side rear tension link were bent and had lodged into the knuckle, the driver's side steering knuckle was fractured with a fractured bolt inside, and the driver's side rear tension link, CV axle, and steering knuckle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 62,000.

Powertrain/engine performance (acceleration control): vehicle struggles to accelerate when pressing the gas. Transmission / drivetrain (gear engagement / shift control): vehicle drops from Reverse into Neutral without driver input (unintended gear disengagement). Water intrusion: ongoing water intrusion, power tailgate was already replaced due to water erosion, when it rains or snows water gets into vehicle resulting in a musty/moldy smell and driver side mat soaking wet. The loss of acceleration / hesitation / jolting creates a risk of being unable to merge, cross intersections, or accelerate in traffic when needed. The unintended shift from Reverse into Neutral can cause loss of intended vehicle control/movement while reversing (driveway/parking lot risk), increasing collision risk with nearby vehicles, pedestrians, or property. I am reporting a serious safety issue involving my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee hybrid. The vehicle has experienced repeated stalling and loss of propulsion while driving, including in active traffic and in a school pickup line. The vehicle has unexpectedly failed to accelerate or start, creating dangerous situations for myself, my passengers, and surrounding vehicles. The vehicle has stalled in traffic and at low speeds without warning. On multiple occasions, it lost propulsion while driving, requiring me to stop unexpectedly. One incident occurred in a school pickup line, causing traffic disruption and creating a safety risk with children present. In addition, the vehicle is subject to a high-voltage battery safety recall due to fire risk. I have been advised that the vehicle is unsafe to park in a garage, and I am concerned about the risk of fire. At this time, there is no permanent repair available for the recall. Despite reporting these issues and seeking service, the safety defects remain unresolved. The combination of stalling, loss of propulsion, and fire risk makes the vehicle unsafe to operate and unsafe to park. I am requesting that NHTSA review this matter as a safety defect involving loss of power, stalling, and fire risk.

Vehicle was charged to full overnight. Vehicle was warming up in the garage on the charger in EV mode for approx 20 minutes. Vehicle cabin was warm when unplugged and put in reverse. Vehicle struggled to get through minor snow until traction control was turned off even with being set to "snow" mode (excessive slip). Outside temperature was -1 at the time (well above cold weather operating temperature) when EV powertrain immediately ceased. The vehicle then went into a limp mode. After 20 minutes or so the gas engine functioned normally and the vehicle was on the road without any EV power (regenerative braking was restoring additional battery). Stopped at dealership on my way to work to have a DTC code analyzed from when this event occurred and it was TCM-P1D97-00 Incorrect Gear Ration: Clutch A or D Defective. The vehicle has exhibited transmission hiccups and been reported, so this appears to be a symptom of a consistent problem. At some point I recall the vehicle engaging the parking brake automatically, and the shifter demanded I put the vehicle into P to select my gear. It took a brief moment to understand what the car was doing, but I still have no idea WHY it did it. I followed the standard procedures of press brake while in park, push parking break lever/button until it disengages, but it put itself back into park a couple times before finally driving. I turned the vehicle off and on a couple times during this event as that is what Stellantis has said to do when the vehicle isn't fully operable. It was just a weird scenario of me doing the same steps to engage drive while the vehicle went back to parking brake mode until it finally stopped fighting me. The ensuing drive to work seemed normal. I did not hear or feel anything abnormal other than the complete lack of EV power. Thankfully the event occurred in my subdivision where no other cars were impacted by my vehicle's lack of mobility or determination to stop in its tracks.
