SINCE THEN, IT LOSES POWER AT EVERY STOP. IF I AM NOT AWARE, THE CAR ROLLS INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC! I TOOK THE CAR TO MY NEAREST DEALER. THEY CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS THE IGNITION SWITCH THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED AND A PART HASN'T BEEN SENT TO DEALERS. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND ALL THEY DID WAS PUT ME ON A LIST! THEY APOLOGIZED FOR ME NOT HAVING A CAR TO DRIVE AND THAT WAS IT! THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ME WITH A TIMELINE OF WHEN THE PART WOULD BE READY. THEY REFUSED TO PROVIDE ME WITH A LOANER VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS OFF THE ROAD. I HAVE LOST MY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION UNLESS I WANT TO RISK MY AND MY FAMILY'S LIFE, AND THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE AT FAULT!

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN, WITHOUT WARNING, THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. ENGINE SHUT DOWN, ALL POWER STEERING, BRAKING, AND POWER SYSTEMS WERE LOST. LUCKILY, I WAS IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE AND WAS ABLE TO PULL SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. ONCE THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND CONTINUE ON. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ISSUE. AFTER CALLING THE DEALER WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE SYMPTOMS DESCRIBED BUT NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX IT AND IT COULD BE MONTHS BEFORE IT COULD BE FIXED. NO OFFER WAS MADE TO PROVIDE ME WITH A VEHICLE TO DRIVE WHILE THE ISSUE REMAINED OPEN. I AM NOT GOING TO ENDANGER MY LIFE, MY FAMILY'S LIVES, OR THE LIVES OF OTHER DRIVERS BY CONTINUING TO OPERATE THIS VEHICLE. THE DEALER SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE AN ALTERNATE MODE OF TRANSPORTATION TO THE CUSTOMER IF THE ISSUE CANNOT BE RESOLVED IN A TIMELY MANOR.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH THE ETC WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST ALL CONTROL OF THE THROTTLE CONTROL OF THE CAR. I MANGED TO COAST HOME AT 15 MPH SPEED WHERE I CALL CALL THE DEALER AND HAVE THE CAR TOWED TOTHE SHOP FOR REPAIR. A THROTTLE CONTROL MODULE WAS IDENTIFIED AS BEING SHORTED AND THEY REPLACED IT AT $1508.20 COST TO ME. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT MY CONTROL MODULE WENT OUT CAUSING THE ELECTRIC SEATS TO RETRACT AND ENGINE BEGIN TO SHUT DOWN. THIS REQUIRED A NEW POWER MODULE AT $1543 COST TO ME. THE RECALL ISSUED BY CHRYSLER FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM NHTSA 14V-438 HAS YET TO BE RESOLVED BY CHRYSLER SINCE SEPTEMBER 2014. I FEEL THE EARLIER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS COULD BE VERY LIKELY RELATED TO THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE OTHER REPAIRS, ALSO THE PLASTIC SUPPORT THAT HOLDS ALL THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES SECURE TO THE DOOR HAVE ALL BROKEN BECAUSE OF A KNOW DESIGN FAILURE CHRYSLER HAS ON THESE VEHICLES. CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR THE DEFECT AND THIS CAR IS A DANGER TO ANYONE WHO IS IN IT WHILE DRIVING. IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED OR A FIRE IN THE CAR, YOU COULD NOT ESCAPE FROM CAR IN TIME TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY. IF THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS DEFECT THERE SHOULD BE ONE. MY COMPLAINT IS CONCERNING THE INTERIOR DOOR PANELS AND HANDLES FOR MY VEHICLE. ALL FOUR DOORS HAVE CRACKS IN THE CASING THAT LEAD TO THE HANDLE. ONE OF THE LEVERS HAS ACTUALLY BROKEN OFF(THE PASSENGER SEAT SIDE BEHIND THE DRIVER/LEFT SIDE OF VEHICLE). I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF LANDMARK DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR, AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE ENTIRE PANEL WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THEY QUOTED TO ME A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $600 FOR EACH DOOR, MEANING IT WOULD COST ME ABOUT $2,400 TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THIS CAN NOT BE A FLUKE THAT ALL 4 DOORS HAVE THE SAME DEFECT. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND I AM CONCERNED THAT I, OR ANY PASSENGERS I MAY HAVE, WILL NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT MY VEHICLE BECAUSE OF IT. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. I'M SURE THAT THERE ARE OTHER JEEP OWNERS OUT THERE WHO HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE. PLEASE HELP.

Jul 21, 2014

This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, drivers should adjust their seat to allow clearance between the driver's knee and the ignition key, and remove all items from their key ring, leaving only the vehicle key. Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2005-2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured February 11, 2004, to July 5, 2007, and 2006-2007 Jeep Commander vehicles manufactured January 31, 2005, to July 5, 2007. In the affected vehicles, the driver may accidentally hit the ignition key with their knee, unintentionally knocking the key out of the run position, turning off the engine.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the ignition key inadvertently moves into the OFF or ACCESSORY position, the engine will turn off, which will then depower various key safety systems including but not limited to air bags, power steering, and power braking. Loss of functionality of these systems may increase the risk of crash and/or increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ignition switch, free of charge. Chrysler sent interim notifications to owners in September 2014. The recall began on October 9, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is P41.

13V175000 · Electrical System; Power Train:transfer Case (4-WHEEL Drive)

May 7, 2013

Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2005-2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured February 11, 2004, through March 9, 2010; and 2006-2010 Jeep Commander vehicles manufactured January 31, 2005, through March 10, 2010. A transfer case electrical failure may result in an unintentional shifting of the transfer case into the neutral position.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the vehicle shifts into neutral, it may roll away increasing the risk of a crash or personal injury.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the final drive controller which governs the transfer case, with new software, free of charge. The recall began on August 15, 2013. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753. Chrysler's recall campaign number is N23.

Sep 14, 2005

ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 3.7L ENGINES AND NAG1 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS, THE AIR CONDITIONER EVAPORATOR CONDENSATE WATER MAY ENTER THE TRANSMISSION AT THE FILL TUBE GROMMET SEAL. THIS CAN RESULT IN SHUDDER DURING TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ENGAGEMENT.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: IT CAN LEAD TO INCREASED TRANSMISSION OPERATING TEMPERATURES, BOILING OF THE WATER, AND A SUBSEQUENT PURGING OF TRANSMISSION FLUID INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT POTENTIALLY RESULTING IN AN UNDERHOOD FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE TRANSMISSION FOR LEAKAGE AT THE FILL TUBE GROMMET SEAL. IF NO LEAK IS DETECTED, A NEW FILL TUBE GROMMET SEAL AND WATER DEFLECTOR SHIELD WILL BE INSTALLED, AND PROPER ALIGNMENT OF THE FILL TUBE VERIFIED. IF THE PRESENCE OF A LEAK IS DETECTED, THE VEHICLE WILL BE EVALUATED FOR SHUDDER DURING TORQUE CONVERTER ENGAGEMENT. IF NO SHUDDER IS DETECTED, THE TRANSMISSION WILL BE TRIPLE FLUSHED, AND NEW FILL TUBE GROMMET SEAL AND WATER DEFLECTOR WILL BE INSTALLED AND PROPER ALIGNMENT OF THE FILL TUBE VERIFIED. IF SHUDDER IS DETECTED, THE TORQUE CONVERTER WILL BE REPLACED, A NEW FILL TUBE GROMMET SEAL AND WATER DEFLECTOR WILL BE INSTALLED, AND PROPER ALIGNMENT OF THE FILL TUBE VERIFIED. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 31, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.
