2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V562000 (Suspension). The contact stated that while in reverse(R), there was a popping sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact exited to inspect the vehicle and became aware that the passenger’s side rear coil spring and both isolators were lying on the ground. The vehicle was jacked up, and the passenger’s side rear wheel was removed. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed with damage to the coil spring. The contact was informed that the passenger’s side rear coil spring needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

Between our two vehicles, we have experienced three separate coil-spring detachments. We are very concerned that the repeated recalls and repairs have not resolved this safety issue and no longer feel confident that these vehicles are safe to drive.

The dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts were not yet available for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to the dealer as a scheduled appointment, but upon arrival, the contact was informed that parts were not available for NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V562000 (Suspension); because the recall was being revised. The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer Stellantis, was called but hung up the phone.

Rear passenger side coil spring fell out. Vehicle was previously inspected and deemed not affected by the known coil spring recall by a CDJR service department. More recently deemed not included in the investigation looking into later ongoing issues. Currently the vehicle is in the possession of this service department awaiting parts and the Dealership is correcting or repairing via an extended warranty, also I will be paying my deductible with the warranty to complete the work.

Upon inspection, the contact discovered a spring sticking out of the middle of the rear end of the vehicle. The contact stated that there was a QR code attached to the coil spring with the part information. Upon further investigation, the contact discovered that the vehicle was serviced previously for the failure under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V413000 (Suspension). The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the vehicle would be covered under NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V051000 (Suspension); however, the contact later received a call that the vehicle was not covered under the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the dealer. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The contact was informed by his daughter that the rear passenger’s side of the vehicle was low, and the ride height of the vehicle was not normal. The contact inspected under the vehicle and discovered that the rear passenger’s side suspension coil spring had detached from the vehicle. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. While the contact’s husband was driving 70 MPH, there was an abnormally loud sound coming from the rear of the vehicle, and an unknown metal object detached and flew off the vehicle into the traffic behind the vehicle. I was driving on the NYS thru way with my family and my rear suspension coil came out while we were driving. The part was not rusted or looked defected. When I took it to the dealership they said a recall for this issue had been repaired in June of 2023 prior to me owning it. I purchased the vehicle on October of 2024. I called corporate and they said there is nothing they will do for me. I paid $500 to fix an issue that should have been completed properly. This is now a safety concern for me and I fear driving it will happen again.
