2016 Hyundai Genesis

My 2016 Hyundai Genesis started flashing a code stating “Check PSB” only a week after buying the car. PSB means Pre-active Seat Belt. The seat belts somehow interlink with the fuel pump. My car has a faulty fuel pump module, causing the PSB warning to flash, even when the vehicle is in motion. It also causes a loud humming coming from the rear of my car, as I accelerate. I’ve done research, and it says MANY owners of the same vehicle report the faulty fuel pump module as the culprit, causing the Check PSB. As well as many owners online stating their vehicle has done the same as mine. There is active recalls on the newer years for this issue, such as the 2023. When the same issue is reported multiple times on the 2016s too, there should be a recall. This is a common issue, & quite frankly a dangerous one. If the fuel pump module is miscommunicating with the seat belts, that could cause them to not react in a collision. I have my vehicle scheduled to be serviced in a few days.

Car experience loss of control to accelerator while driving on major highway. The vehicle's speed coasted down from highway speed of 65mph to low 50s before vehicle was safely stopped on roadside emergency breakdown lane. This incident could have easily resulted in a collision with faster-moving traffic. The vehicle has been transported to a dealer for inspection to determine the cause, however this episode appears very similar to a documented issue in 2016 with a faulty fuel harness and low pressure fuel pump. No warnings or indications were present until after the car was turned off and restarted.

Please refer to the articles below, this issue happens after 60k miles & never found a car it was fixed before 60k. owners are spending over $800 to $1000 to get fixed. In Korea, it was Recalled back in 2021. Our genesis are all made in Korea. When I contact the Hyundai USA. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI GENESIS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND WAS TAKEN TO COURTESY HYUNDAI (939 NEWPORT AVE, PAWTUCKET, RI 02861) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE RESULTS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ONE YEAR LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO COURTESY HYUNDAI. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED, BUT THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.

SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AT FREEWAY SPEED. DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEED LATE AT NIGHT WITH ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL ON, I ACCELERATED AND CHANGED LANES TO THE LEFT TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH AN INATTENTIVE DRIVER. IMMEDIATELY AFTER CHANGING LANES TO THE RIGHT TO RETURN TO MY LANE, THE CAR STOPPED RESPONDING TO THROTTLE INPUT. RPM GRADUALLY DECREASED TO ZERO AND THE CAR STALLED. NO WARNING LIGHTS UNTIL THE ENGINE STOPPED AT THE RIGHT SHOULDER OF THE FREEWAY. I RESTARTED THE ENGINE. STILL NO WARNING LIGHTS. THE CAR ENTERED A LIMP-HOME MODE WITH MAX RPM AROUND 1500, VERY SLOW ACCELERATION, MAX SPEED ABOUT 50 MPH. IT DID NOT STALL AGAIN DURING THE 10 MILE TRIP HOME. TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER STATES THAT THE OBD2 FAULT CODE WAS P1230, LOW FUEL PRESSURE. THE TECHNICIAN TEST DROVE THE CAR AND REPRODUCED THE BEHAVIOR. INITIAL DIAGNOSIS WAS "FAILURE OF HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL PUMP." TODAY (5 DAYS AFTER INCIDENT) THE DEALER STATES THAT HYUNDAI TECH SUPPORT RECOMMENDS ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSTICS PRIOR TO REPLACING THE FUEL PUMP.
