Auto-restart system has a warranty extension, but the dealer will not perform the repair until after the Honda Ridgeline has the problem occur at least once, thus placing the driver and any passengers in danger. This system did malfunction in our other Honda vehicle with the same warranty extension. When that occurred, it left us stranded in the middle of a six-lane road where we had stopped at a light and could not restart the vehicle. Several cars almost ran into us. Our 17-year-old daughter drives this vehicle and I do not want to wait until this major threat occurs to have Honda repair it. I filed a complaint with Honda, and they advised me they would do nothing and that I should file a complaint with the NHTSA.

The truck makes a metallic clicking noise when accelerating and letting off accelerator pedal. I have taken the Truck to the dealership and they believe it is some sort of subframe issue. They aren’t sure where it is coming from or what is causing it. Their guess is some sort of manufacturing error when installing subframe.

Wireless Charger Doesn't Work with or without a case on my Samsung 22 Ultra (which works on every other of the 4 wireless chargers I have). So I just purchased the 23 RTL-E on 09/28/23. Upon taking possession of the vehicle, got in adjusted and began setting things up to my liking. I went to place my phone on the equipped charging mat and after some shifting and repositioning, the phone began to charge w/ the case on. That lasted all of about 4-10 seconds. After fiddling w/ it for a few more minutes, no luck. Finally, I decided to remove the case and same thing, it only charged 4-10 secs.Ive also tried my sons Iphone 14, both with and without the case, same thing over and over again. Dealership said there was no know issues w the wireless charging unit. However I have found numerous complaints of the same issue online.

2nd time to Honda of Covington for the passenger door will not manually unlock or open with inside door handle UNLESS you push the electric unlock button 1st. [XXX] , the service writer, said it was a safety feature and wrote it on my repair order and hasn’t had the service manager come out to the vehicle with me as requested as this is a safety problem, loose battery power and your passenger cannot get out. I showed [XXX] a memo I found on this site saying that Honda wants all reports of this problem sent to them, [XXX] won’t acknowledge the report. I am making myself a nuisance and now [XXX] said someone will call me Monday August 21st. I called Honda and they said, “we have no reports of this problem but will give you a case number”. That number is [XXX]. I don’t understand why no one cares? If we get in a wreck and loose battery power the passenger door will not open and one can only hope my wife is not injured to the point where she can’t crawl over the center console to exit on the driver’s side. We purchased our new 2023 Ridgeline RTL-E 4 six months ago and always noticed that the passenger inside door handle wouldn’t open the door unless we pushed the unlock button, the driver’s door works normally. We thought this might be a new safety thing until we tried to manually unlock the passenger door today and could not, meaning the passenger door can only be opened inside if you electronically unlock the door. That’s concerning…if we loose battery power in a wreck, you cannot get out the passenger door!! We are calling the dealer in the morning to get this addressed.

Please note that I am a Deaf customer. My primary language is American Sign Language (ASL) and English written is my secondary language. Thank you for understanding. I just bought a 2023 Honda Ridgeline on June 6th, 2023. The "Auto Engine Idle Stop System Problem" error message in the dash has been the problem and appeared many times. I sent it back to the dealership, which was the third time, and the power window master switch was replaced on July 19th, 2023, but it still has not been resolved yet. I made an appointment with the dealership on Monday, July 31st, 2023, which will be 4th attempt. I am tired of it. It is very annoying. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your assistance with this matter.

On June 3, 2022, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation PE22005 after the agency received VOQs and several field reports concerning the Auto Idle Stop (AIS) feature on 2016-2019MY Honda Pilot vehicles. The complaints allege that the engine fails to restart on its own from a complete stop at a traffic light or road intersection with the AIS function engaged. The subject vehicles are equipped with a 3.5L engine with a 9-speed automatic transmission. On January 6, 2023, Honda released service bulletins 23-008 and 23-009. These service bulletins address the failure to restart issue in the 2016-2019MY Honda Pilot vehicles, as well as the 2015-2020 Acura TLX, 2016-2020 Acura MDX, 2019-2022 Honda Passport, and 2020-2023 Honda Ridgeline vehicles. The repair outlined in the service bulletins is a two-stage countermeasure to remedy the issue. The first stage is a Programmed Fuel Injection (“PGM-FI”) software update. The second stage is only deployed if the software update fails to remedy the issue. The second stage, depending on the model and model year, consists of replacement of the starter assembly, starter relays, and a valve adjustment. Additionally, Honda extended the warranty coverage to 10 years with unlimited mileage for vehicles requiring the second stage component replacement. ODI continues to receive complaints of the AIS failure to restart, with many complainants alleging the campaign countermeasures had been completed.NHTSA has reviewed Honda's Information Request Letter responses involving warranty claims, lawsuits, and consumer complaints in addition to ODI's own data. This Engineering Analysis is being opened to further consider the potential safety defect, including gathering additional data regarding Honda’s service campaign efficacy. ODI is additionally expanding the scope to encompass all vehicles addressed in Honda’s service bulletins 23-008 and 23-009 as well as newer model year vehicles, which are substantially similar to the vehicles covered by the service campaign. PE24004 · Rear-View Camera Failure

Opened Feb 13, 2024 · Closed Aug 5, 2024

Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Back Over Prevention

On February 13, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation PE24004 to assess alleged failures of the rear-view camera (RVC) in 2020-2023 Model Year (MY) Honda Ridgeline vehicles. At this time, ODI has received a total of 50 complaints with allegations of the RVC image failing to display when the vehicle was in reverse. The RVC wire harness is routed near the hinge in the tailgate, in a location where frequent opening and closing of the tailgate causes bending stress on the harness. Honda determined the wire harness was manufactured with a material which is permeable to water and salt, which when it freezes and thaws, combined with tailgate usage, ultimately leads to breakage of the wiring in the tailgate harness. This results in a failure to display the RVC image. On May 9, 2024, Honda filed a Part 573 Safety Recall Report recalling all 2020-2024 MY Honda Ridgeline vehicles. The dealer will replace the RVC tailgate harness with a wire harness that is manufactured by a new supplier and has improved material properties to withstand wear from bending. In view of Honda filing recall 24V-321 addressing the subject of this investigation, ODI is closing this Preliminary Evaluation. NHTSA reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. To review the ODI reports cited in the Closing Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.
