2025 Honda Civic

My car is experiencing steering problem- it is sticking and makes it hard to steer, I took it to get diagnosed today and I was told I need a new steering gear box because it is faulty. This is a common recall for the year make and model car I have and I was told that my vin number doesn’t not have any recall yet it is still experiencing the same exact problem as the recall. The car is a year old but it’s been going on for months and I assumed it was normal because it’s never been mentioned until I found out about the recall and brought it in specifically for that reason

This vehicle suffers from phantom braking. With the adaptive cruise control set, at times, in the display of the instrument cluster, the display shows a semi, motorcycle or car that is not there in real life. When this happens the car applies the brakes and starts slowing down. Sometimes this is bad enough that the collision warning message comes on and the brake application is very aggressive. The type of weather or road surface does not seem to matter. It seems to be very random. This happens once a week. Not just on the date provided below.

A complaint is being filed regarding a **2025 Honda Civic** involving failure to diagnose and repair a safety-related suspension defect during the warranty period. While under warranty (~20,000 miles), a **clunking noise from the rear suspension** was repeatedly reported to Tamaroff Honda [XXX] ). Despite multiple service visits and complaints to both the dealership and American Honda (Case #XXX and #XXX), no proper diagnosis or repair was performed. After continued inaction, another Honda dealership identified a **broken rear shock absorber with an active fluid leak**, a safety-critical defect affecting vehicle stability and control. This condition existed and was reported during the warranty period but was dismissed. There is also a pattern of complaint mishandling, including lack of follow-up and unresolved case activity. Requests for service records and complaint documentation have not been fulfilled. This complaint requests investigation into the safety risk and failure to diagnose and repair a known defect during warranty. I was turning into a parking space in my 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Touring, in a plaza area. As I depressed the brake, I felt some pressure, but then all of a sudden it went straight to the ground, which caused my car to go over a landscape median, and hit the tree in the middle of it, causing my car to hit a stationary vehicle on the other side to the right, which in-turn caused my car to flip on it's drivers side. All of the airbags deployed and my driver's window was broken. My arm was injured and scraped but not broken. As I was waiting for the EMTs while sitting there, I noticed a warning circle with Bright Red Bold Letters that said BRAKE in the middle. My only thought was to shut the car off immediately. The manufacturer and insurance have given me a runaround regarding having someone to investigate/inspect the brake system, no success so far. I have a few days left for the insurance to hold it, being that it's been deemed a total loss. The CHP report is still not out. Hopefully the insurance will give me an extension for the hold. I had reported this by phone to NHTSA on 2/13/2026 and they did give me a claim number, but I don't see anywhere where I can add the claim number.

This car is have been giving me issues for months even tried to trade in for months but got denied this is an safety hazard i can lose my life but the steering power is bad is tight the braking system is sensitive everything is difficult and expensive it’s killing my pockets which why I can’t pay my car note and why should I pay for a car that’s not safe ! I want to be put another vehicle

The contact owns a 2025 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving approximately 64 MPH, the Forward Collision Avoidance system unintendedly activated without a person or a vehicle nearby. No warning lights were illuminated. The failure reoccurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched and was made aware of a Class Action Lawsuit associated with the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,555.

While driving, the steering wheel suddenly became stiff and difficult to turn, making it hard to control the vehicle. This happened unexpectedly and created a serious safety risk, as I could have lost control and caused an accident. At the same time, the braking response did not feel normal, which made the situation even more dangerous. This issue has occurred despite previous repair attempts, and the problem remains unresolved. I am very concerned about the safety of this vehicle and the risk it poses to myself and others on the road. No warning lights appeared before the issue happened.

The electric power steering is malfunctioning. At highway speeds, steering becomes sticky. It is difficult to make small adjustments (such as to stay within the lane), leading to overcorrections to compensate. I worry that the stickiness and associated overcompensation may lead cause a crash if it persists. The issue has not been confirmed by a dealer or service center nor inspected by manufacturer, police or insurance company. However, I have called Honda and it is a known issue. There is already a recall for 2022 to 2025 Honda Civic's for this problem in the electric power steering, but my car is not currently included in the recall. I did not have any warning messages. I first noticed this issue on 3/9/26 when my car had ~12800 miles on it.
