While driving home from work in my 2024 Honda Accord EX 1.5T, multiple warning lights suddenly came on on the dashboard. Shortly afterward, I began smelling a strong gasoline/fuel odor inside the passenger compartment. I stopped the vehicle and got out. I could also smell gasoline outside the vehicle. I opened the hood and the gasoline odor was still noticeable from the engine compartment. Because I was concerned about the safety of the vehicle, I went to the nearest O’Reilly Auto Parts and had the vehicle scanned. The diagnostic scan showed P0172 (Fuel System Too Rich, Bank 1), P0300 (Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire), P0301 (Cylinder 1 Misfire), P0302 (Cylinder 2 Misfire), and P0303 (Cylinder 3 Misfire). The vehicle had approximately 82,063 miles at the time. The gasoline odor inside and outside the vehicle is especially concerning because of the potential risk of a fuel leak and fire. I checked my VIN for recalls and no open recall is currently listed for my vehicle. I am reporting this incident because I believe the fuel odor, rich fuel condition, multiple misfires, and dashboard warning lights may represent a safety-related fuel-system problem that should be investigated.

On XXX, about 8:30 a.m., in clear, sunny weather, I was turning my 2024 Honda Accord Sport Hybrid into a marked parking space. My foot was off the accelerator; I applied light brake pressure while the vehicle moved under 5 mph. Without warning, it suddenly and spontaneously accelerated at high speed. Within seconds it drove over a concrete parking stop, traveled through dense landscaping, and collided into a palm tree that prevented it moving forward. I immediately powered it off. The airbag did not deploy; no warning message preceded the acceleration. Before repair, Germain Honda scanned the vehicle; May 28 invoice the Shop Foreman and a Honda District Parts & Service Manager inspected it. The report’s Page 1 checklist all items marked green "Satisfactory" and no damage noted in vehicle diagrams. This is not reconciled with the packet's Lighting "NG" and B1036 results or estimates documenting a shattered right headlamp. The invoice attributes many codes to headlight/bumper impact but identifies neither the codes nor the basis. Native HDS data was not provided. Pre-repair records from Germain Honda (May 28), Caliber/ProTech (XXX), and Crash Champions (XXX) record DTCs/faults involving propulsion/powertrain, braking, network, steering, driver assistance, restraint, and body controls. They do not establish when findings arose or whether any caused or contributed to the event. After repair, on XXX, Honda of [XXX] reported zero DTCs. The precise cause remains unknown. I believe Speed Control, Brakes, and Fuel/Propulsion System most likely caused or contributed to the sudden spontaneous acceleration, complete loss of control, crash, and vehicle damage. If this same event occurred at a stop sign or stoplight, significant injuries and potential fatalities would have occurred to myself, or any pedestrians, animals, and vehicles in its path. Crash-scene photos and video, diagnostic reports, estimates, towing and service records preserved and uploaded INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA),

The engine vibrates/shutters when switching from electric to gas. It almost feels like the engine is going to fall out. I’ve taken it to two different Honda dealerships multiple times and since they can’t duplicate the issue while it’s there then they say there’s nothing they can do. The oil also looks and smells like gas.

In December 2024, I was driving my 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid Sport on a clear, dry day after school when the car just completely lost power out of nowhere. The dashboard went crazy, flashing a bunch of different error messages every few seconds. Because the car wouldn't respond, I ended up in a side-impact crash. I was able to turn on/off the car after putting on my hazards and I was able to drive it normally and drove it towards the side of the ramp. I called my dad and after some time and turning the car on and off, the error messages disappeared and I was able to drive it safely back home. I tried to file an insurance claim (State Farm #51-78K9-28M) back then, but they blamed my driving because the Recall TN2 (Campaign 25V785) hadn't been announced yet. I ended up giving up on the claim because money was tight and my dad was worried about insurance costs, but the car is still dented and scraped from that day as the error messages disappeared after I turned on/off the car on the side of the highway. I just want it on the record that this 'loss of drive power' recall caused my accident a year ago after seeing the recall on the mail.

On March 4, I took my car in for the high pressure fuel pump recall and was under the impression that it was replaced. On May 7 my car caught on fire two minutes after exiting the vehicle. It was confirmed by a fire inspector that it was the high-pressure fuel pump that caused the fire. There was no warning lights or anything to give warning that the vehicle was malfunctioning. I feel I was put at risk because if I would have had to stop at a stoplight, the car would’ve caught on fire with me in it. I also drive my grandchildren around with me a lot of the time, but on this date, I had no children with me. Honda has not responded or assigned a case manager to the incident and it’s been two weeks.

December 2024, I received a recall notice from Honda that the fuel pump on the car make be defective. A couple weeks later I smell a strong gas odor inside the car. it was towed to the local Honda dealer and inspected. The pump was tested but showed no signs of cracking under pressure. Honda is claiming that they have fulfilled their obligation and is not going to replace the pump. When asked if they would guarantee that it would not fail in the future, they would not. Just because it hasn't failed yet, doesn't mean it won't. I believe that it is Honda's responsibility to replace this pump with one they know was not improperly made.

2024 Honda Accord EX 11th generation Due to poor design and engineering and the use of low-quality plastic pipes to carry gas fuel vapor to the (evap system) and brake fluid to the braking system, these pipes have resulted in safety issues, both involving the possible loss of braking and high chances of fire when they are compromised. All these pipes run parallel to the exhaust system, which gets extremely hot. Due to the plastic brake, gas line, and evap line being exposed to road hazards, it's allowed direct contact with road debris, in which I encountered in my 2024 Honda Accord EX Turbo. The Honda engineering team should have known, reasonably expected leaving such thin plastic pipes exposed under the undercarriage of the car would most likely result in costly repairs in which they would, therefore, deny any responsibility for damages occurring. The local Honda dealership can't repair these damaged pipes due to liability issues. The pipes can't be coupled together, so the entire length of these pipes must be replaced at a cost of $7,035.52. American Honda has calculated the repair time and charges for any necessary work need, these charges are universal throughout all Honda dealerships in the United States. Due to car being under warranty one is unable to seek repairs elsewhere without violating the the 3 year/ 36000 factory warranty for other covered parts. Having to report and claim such damages on my auto insurance policy shouldn't be an option. An insurance company shouldn't have to pay to replace damaged fuel and brake lines due to the poor engineering of an auto manufacturer. The financial burden on owners is significant, and having such issues as this increases all our insurance costs. This could have resulted in me losing brakes and fire starting as both exposed fluid lines run parallel to the exhaust and have no cover/ guard to aid in protection. I've contacted American Honda, they absolutely refuse to accept any responsibility for damages.

RQ24006 · Front Seat Belt Assemblies May Be Missing The Rivet That Secures The Quick Connector And Wire Plate

Opened Apr 4, 2024 · Closed Mar 26, 2025

Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Seat Belts; Seat Belts:front

On April 4, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigations (ODI) opened RQ24006 to investigate American Honda Motor Co.’s (Honda’s) proposed remedy for recall 23V-782 as well as scope of the vehicles involved. Honda issued recall 23V-782 on November 21, 2023, which concerns certain model year (MY) 2023-2024 Honda Accord, Honda Accord Hybrid, and Honda HR-V vehicles. Recall 23V-782 states that the driver and front passenger seat belt pretensioner assemblies may have been manufactured without a rivet that secures the pretensioner quick connector and wire plate. Recall documentation states that seat belt pretensioner assemblies that are missing the rivet will not properly restrain the occupant in the event of a collision, increasing the risk of injury.Subject defective seat belt assemblies are installed as original equipment for both the driver and front passenger positions for the HR-V, but only for the driver position for the Accord and Accord Hybrid. The recall remedy for 23V-782 instructs the technician to inspect both front seat belt pretensioner assemblies and, if necessary, replace them. The inspection procedure requires the technician to utilize a pull force gauge to determine whether the subject component is missing the subject rivet and requires replacement. Parts requiring replacement are determined by whether the pretensioner quick connector separates from the pretensioner assembly while the technician is pulling on the seat belt. If no separation occurs, then the part is determined to be not defective and not require replacement. There have been no reports alleging a failure of seat belt pretensioner assemblies after the inspect and replace remedy for recall 23V-782 was performed. Additionally, no comparable failures have been observed in field data for similar vehicles outside of the scope of the recall. As of the 4th quarter of 2024, the recall completion rate is at approximately 84% of the total recalled population. In view of the lack of failures after the remedy for recall 23V-782 was performed, and the lack of failures in similar vehicles outside of the scope of the recall, ODI is closing this Recall Query (RQ). The Agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances.
