The contact owns a 2024 Honda Accord. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle unexpectedly came to a stop without the brake pedal being depressed. The “BRAKE” message was displayed on the instrument panel. The failure occasionally occurred while the cruise control feature was activated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V785000 (Electrical System). Additionally, occasionally the electrical system was inoperable, and the instrument panel failed to function properly, and the trunk and fuel door unexpectedly opened. The contact also stated that the automatic door locks failed to function properly, requiring several attempts to enter the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to several dealers; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures, and the contact was offered a buyback option for the vehicle. The contact expressed concerns that, due to the multiple failures, the vehicle was unsafe to operate and created a hazardous condition, because the vehicle was almost in a crash with children inside the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 33,000.

On October 3, 2025, at approximately 1:00-1:30 PM, I was driving southbound on the Hardy Toll Road in the far-left lane on my way to a friend's house. Road conditions were dry, and it was a bright, sunny day. While driving, I noticed something felt unusual with my vehicle. Other vehicles began passing me, so I checked my side-view mirror to see if there was an issue with my rear wheel, but I did not observe anything. When I looked forward again, there were no vehicles directly in front of me. Suddenly, my car locked up, and the word "BRAKE" appeared on the dashboard. My vehicle immediately began veering sharply to the right. While veering, my vehicle was struck on the passenger side (T-boned) by another vehicle. The impact caused me to collide with the guard rail, strike a freeway sign, and ultimately crash into the tree line near the water off the roadway.

When making a left turn, my car suddenly bucked up onto the air feeling like I ran over a big obstacle which was not the case. Car came to sudden stop and I was thrown forward over steering wheel. Thankfully no one was behind me or it would have been catastrophic. The first week I owned the car, when going through a car wash, the car started jumping up and down and wouldn't move forward. Had to back out of carwash. Dealer told me it was the collision mitigation system and to turn it off before going in. The "brake" light on dash periodically flashes when no cars are in front of me. I am truly afraid to drive this car which only has 5,800 miles on it. Dealer can't find a problem. I am turning off collision feature every time I drive, but what if I forget? I believe this is an extremely dangerous defect and should be looked into. It doesn't always happen, but when it does...

I purchased my Honda accord June 21, 2024. For the first 3 months, the brake system indicator rectangle shape amber light (blinked on and off for several seconds) on 8 separate occasions when driving this car, so I brought the car to Honda Dealer that concluded it must be dust on the brake For the next 3 months, the brake system indicator rectangle light (blinked amber on and off) on 6 separate occasions, the Honda Dealer told me they could not find a problem with the brake, For the next 4 months, the brake system indicator rectangle light (blinked amber on and off) on 3 separate occasion , again the Honda dealer told me they could not find a problem but I noted that the dealer did not have record this on the work order. I then called Honda customer service (800-999-1009) support on June 23, 2025 at 1:17pm. I told the representative that the 2024 owners manual on page 84-85 did not have an amber brake indicator message among the 30 or so indicators in the manual. On page 493, the manual also mentions "If the brake system indicator (RED) comes on or blinks, there is a malfunction in the brake system" On page 494, the manual also mentions "if the brake system indicator (RED) comes on or blinks at the same time when the brake system indicator (AMBER), release the parking brake. The representative could not explain what a blinking amber brake system indicator meant and I should return car to the Honda dealer. Upon my insistence, my call was escalated and that a senior representative agreed that an blinking amber brake indicator explanation is not in the Owners Manual and could not provide me with an answer. Her best guess was that I was to close to a car in front of me (even though this has happened when there was not car in from of me). Can the NHTSA provide me with an explanation on why the brake system indicator rectangle light (blinked amber on and off) or have Honda provide the NHTSA with an explanation if this represents a dangerous situation to dri

I immediately called Victory Honda. They told me to go wash my car and call them back if it happens again. The only warning it gave was the brake light and beeping, but it was instant. Thankful there was no one behind me.

While driving the vehicle, usually while passing another vehicle, it slams on the brakes suddenly and decelerates rapidly. I suspect it has something to do with how it reads it's surroundings. When it happens, which is without warning, the BRAKE light comes on the dash. It has happened multiple times but recently it was a close call with another vehicle behind me on the interstate. Which is why I'm taking the time to report this. I have not had it inspected.
