The failed part is called the HD Tour-Pak, which is mounted above the trunk of the Harley 3 wheeler, known as a TriGlide. Harley Davidson Corp has denied my claim saying it is “Cosmetic” in nature. Dimissing this issue is a severe mischaracterization of a structural failure. The CRACK originates directly at the left forward position from the main hinge and propagates downward, extending underneath the left speaker box assembly, can be seen on supplied photos. This specific area is a critical load-bearing region of the Tour Pack. This trike is equipped with a factory-approved, OEM Harley-Davidson luggage rack mounted to the lid. When the lid is opened, the weight of the lid, the factory luggage rack, and the left speaker pod all pivot on this hinge, creating an intense, concentrated lever-arm force. This torque, combined with continuous high-frequency road vibrations, transfers directly into this exact corner of the ABS plastic lower tub. This is an unambiguous structural compromise of the housing. It is not a paint blemish or a surface scratch. Because the crack runs beneath the speaker box and adjacent to the main hinge mounting point, the structural integrity of the lower tub has failed. Left unaddressed, normal riding condition will cause the crack to propagate further under the weight of the factory components. This creates an escalating safety risk where the lid, hinge assembly, or speaker housing could fully separate from the motorcycle while traveling at highway speeds. This in hand could create a hazard to any vehicle behind. Rattlesnake Mountain Harley-Davidson, a dealer, has seen the problem. The service manager has stated that I need to be really careful as it could separate and injure a rider, which would loose his/her backrest and fall off the trike along with parts causing a hazard. Harley-Davidson has been advised of all this and they are the ones that say it’s a cosmetic so it’s not their problem. There was not warning of this problem
