WHILE RIDING MY MOTORCYCLE FROM MAHWAH, NJ TO PAINTED POST, NY, THE TOUR -PAK (TRUNK) CAUGHT ON FIRE. I STOPPED AND OPENED THE TOUR -PAK. AFTER THE SMOKE CLEARED, I DISCOVERED THAT THE INTERIOR TOUR-PAK LIGHT HAD MELTED THE LENS, BURNED THROUGH THE TOUR-PAK LINER, AND BURNED A HOLE IN MY $75.00 SPORT SHIRT. I DISCONNECTED THE CONNECTOR, AND PROCEEDED ON MY TRIP. WHEN I RETURNED 3 DAYS LATER, I DID A SEARCH ON MY COMPUTER AND DISCOVERED A SERVICE BULLETIN FROM HARLEY-DAVIDSON, WHICH IDENTIFIED A DEFECTIVE "STICKING" SWITCH, WHICH CAUSES THE INTERIOR TOUR-PAC LIGHT TO STAY ON. WHEN I CALLED H-D, THEY SAID TO GO TO A LOCAL H-D DEALERSHIP TO VERIFY THE DAMAGE AND HAVE THE DEALER CALL H-D. I FOLLOWED THEIR INSTRUCTIONS. THE DEALER CALLED H-D TO RELAY THE INFO. HOWEVER,THE DEALER CALLED ME LATER THAT DAY TO TELL ME H-D WAS NOT GOING TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE RE-ENGINEERED SWITCH WITH AN L.E.D. BULB, THE DAMAGED LINER, OR MY BURNED SPORT SHIRT, BECAUSE" THE VEHICLE NO LONGER WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY". *TR
