TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GULF STREAM ATRIUM. THE STEPS TO THE VEHICLE ARE UNSAFE BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT UNIFORM. FROM THE INSIDE OUT, THE FIRST STEP IS NINE INCHES, THE NEXT STEP IS THIRTEEN AND ONE HALF INCHES, THE THIRD STEP IS EIGHT AND ONE HALF INCHES, AND THE GROUND STEP IS SIX AND ONE HALF INCHES. IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE DEALER. THE DEALER SENT A TECHNICIAN WHO MEASURED THE STEPS AND AGREED THAT THEY WERE UNEVEN AND UNSAFE. THE ENGINE SIZE AND NUMBER OF CYLINDERS WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,100 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,061.
ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES BUILT WITH DEWALT/POWER GEAR HYDRAULIC HOSES USED FOR THE SLIDE-OUT ROOMS AND LEVELING JACKS, THE CRIMPING PROCESS FOR ATTACHING THE HOSE FITTING TO THE END OF THE HYDRAULIC HOSE WAS PERFORMED IMPROPERLY.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: WHEN ONE OF THE IMPROPERLY CRIMPED HOSE ASSEMBLIES IS PLACED UNDER A HEAVY LOAD, HYDRAULIC FLUID COULD BE RELEASED IN A HIGH PRESSURE SPRAY CREATING A RISK OF FIRE.
Remedy: DEWALT/POWER GEAR WILL NOTIFY GULF STREAM CUSTOMERS AND WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE HOSE FITTING. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT GULF STREAM COACH AT 800-289-8787.
