TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GREAT DANE SSL VAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR VALVES POP UP MANUALLY AND RELEASE THE PINS. AS A RESULT, THE REAR TANDUMS SLIDE. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, HE HEARD A LOUD CRASH COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. HE NOTICED THAT THE PINS THAT HOLD THE REAR WHEEL TANDUM ASSEMBLY IN PLACE SLID BACKWARDS. HE NOTICED THAT THE AIR VALVES FAILED AND CAUSED THE TANDUMS TO SLIDE OPEN, WHICH CAUSED THE REAR WHEEL TO BECOME LOOSE AT ANY TIME. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE PART ON SIGHT AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHO CONTINUED MAKING REPAIRS. HE BELIEVES THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY DEFECT AND THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 400,000.
