WE RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE SAYING THE PROPELLANT IN THIS INFLATOR MAY DEGRADE AFTER LONG-TERM EXPOSURE TO HIGH HUMIDITY AND TEMPERATURE CYCLING, WHICH COULD CAUSE THE INFLATOR TO EXPLODE DURING A DEPLOYMENT. AN INFLATOR RUPTURE MAY CAUSE METAL FRAGMENTS TO PASS THROUGH THE AIRBAG AND INTO THE VEHICLE INTERIOR AT HIGH SPEED, WHCIH MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO PASSENGERS. WHEN WE CALLED THE GMC DEALER TO GET THIS FIXED, THEY SAID THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THIS IS OUR FAMILY VEHICLE FOR MY HUSBAND, MYSELF AND OUR 6 CHILDREN THAT WE RIDE IN TOGETHER EACH DAY. I'M ALSO PREGNANT AND EXPECTING A BABY IN AUGUST - WE SHOULD NOT BE FORCED TO DRIVE AROUND IN AN UNSAFE VEHICLE, GMC SHOULD BE OFFERING AN ALTERNATIVE VEHICLE FOR USE UNTIL THEY HAVE PARTS AVAILABLE OR SOME OPTION TO KEEP OUR FAMILY SAFE.

FROM WHAT I CAN SEE THE DEALERSHIP WOULD LOVE TO FIX THIS AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE $2,000. YOU WOULD THINK THAT AFTER YOU PAY CLOSE TO $50,000 THAT GM WOULD CONSIDER THIS AN IMPORTANT CUSTOMER RELATION ISSUE. ALSO NOT TO MENTION THE SAFETY HAZARD THIS POSES.
