Everyone tells me front brakes should wear out first and rear brakes should last much longer.

Had I been driving on the highway I could've been killed/seriously injured by loss of control by way of steering. It looks like the upper control arm completely seperated from the tire at the ball joint causing the tire to fall away from the vehicle. There is a current recall out there for this make, year, and model. The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer. No warning lamps or messages have appeared.

Transmission is slipping into neutral from a slow start and re-engaging with a hard bang to the point it feels like I’ve been rear ended from a vehicle behind me. It’s done it twice in two weeks and it seems to happen when I’m leaving from a stop or slowing down and then come back into the accelerator.

Driver's side front wheel assembly separated from the vehicle. It was hard to tell exactl what happened but I am told that it may have been a ball joint failure. I was driving in the middle lane on the highway with cruise control set to 70MPH. All of a sudden, my truck jumped up and my truck starting pushing towards the left median. I thought I had a tire blow out. Luckily there wasn't anyone in the left lane at the time and I was able to get to the grassy left median. If there was another vehicle in the left lane and or if the left median wasn't grass, this would have caused a major accident as I has no control over where the truck was going. When I got out I saw that my entire wheel had separated from the vehicle and it was on its face under the truck. I did not hit a pothole. There was no prior indication that anything was wrong with the assembly. A tow truck was called and brought the truck back to their shop. The assembly had to be replaced, (ball joint, axel, steering control arms etc.). I called my local GMC dealer and they have nothing being reported of this issue but when I looked online I've seen multiple reports of premature failures of ball joints. Total repairs so far have been $3,400.00 and I still need to replace a cracked rim. Repairs will be over $4,000 when all said and done.

According to inspection by my local GMC dealership, the engine oil cooler lines leaked/detached, as a result the engine assembly needs to be completely redone. When driving on the highway the car began flashing to immediately pull over and turn the vehicle off, the engine became very hot and was smoking and oil was found all over the ground upon inspection after immediately stopping the vehicle. This vehicle has been inspected by the Carlsbad GMC/Buick Dealership. There were no warning messages prior to this event. The car has consistently received all recommended preventative maintenance and oil changes. As a consumer I am now on the hook for over $15,000 in repairs, after complying with all maintenance recommendations from the manufacturer. There is an active recall for an identical model and make as this car for the same issue, the recall number is: N212326940 (customer satisfaction program number) and DCS5833 (Global safety field investigations number). I am very confused as to why this recall has not been applied to my vehicle.

Once stopped trailer towing light luminated ( I was not towing anything). I exited truck and it was apparent this was a issue with the front brakes as they were smoking. Rotors appear to have marks in them when compared to rear. After about 30 minutes I started truck and there was no indication on dash of a problem had brake pedal. The truck has 50800 miles on it. Contacted dealer (Hendricks Chevy) this morning they said it was not covered and no recalls I discussed brake issues I read on line again they repeated no recalls in system for my truck, but would be glad to look at it in 2 weeks.

At 50,000 miles the upper control arm/ball joint on the driver side came apart with no warning causing considerable damage to the suspension, tires, wheel, and front bumper. About two months before at approximately 48,000 miles the passenger side control arm/ball joint came apart again with no warning. Warranty has just elapse and GM has denied any responsibility and will not cover any of the repairs. This could have easily been catastrophic if we would have been on the freeway. This is a Safety issue! This truck has the aluminum upper control arms which my opinion for what its worth is the problem. I have no clue at this time how we are going to be able to fix this. Even when it is fixed we will never trust it.

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 1,157 reports of engine bearing failure failures in the L87 6.2L engine produced by General Motors (GM). Of the 1,157 reports received, 173 are outside of the scope of recall 25V-274. These engines are installed in Model Years (MY) 2019–2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, and 2021-2024MY Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, GMC Yukon/Yukon XL, and Cadillac Escalade/Escalade ESV vehicles. The subject engine failures were investigated as part of a Preliminary Evaluation (PE25001). GM determined that these engine failures were due to multiple supplier manufacturing and quality issues. GM issued recall 25V-274 to address the supplier manufacturing and quality issues produced between March 1, 2021, and May 31, 2024. Based on the issuance of recall 25V-274, NHTSA has closed PE25001. ODI continues to receive a significant number of reports of engine failure in vehicles outside the scope of 25V-274. This presents a potential safety risk that warrants further investigation. ODI is opening this Engineering Analysis (EA) to further evaluate the scope and severity of the potential problem and to fully assess the potential safety-related issues of vehicles built outside the recall scope. To review the ODI reports cited in the Opening Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.

PE25001 · Loss Of Motive Power Due To Engine Failure
Opened Jan 16, 2025 · Closed Oct 23, 2025
Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Engine; Engine And Engine Cooling:engine:hard Parts Internal/mechanical
On January 16, 2025, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation PE25001 after receiving complaints and field reports concerning engine failures in MY2019-2024 GM’s full-size truck and SUV T1XX platform equipped with the L87 6.2L V8 engine. These complainants alleged engine bearing failures resulting in knocking and growling noises from the engine’s bottom end and in some cases more severe consequences such as broken connecting rods leading to engine damage, or engine failure. If the engine fails during vehicle operation, the vehicle will lose propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash. On April 24, 2025, GM issued recall 25V-274 to address the concern with L87 engines produced between March 1, 2021, and May 31, 2024. GM cited the root cause as a supplier manufacturing and quality issues. GM’s recall remedy will be either an oil change to an oil with a different viscosity or engine replacement depending on the results of the remedy inspection procedure. To date, ODI has received 1,157 allegations of engine bearing failure. GM submitted 55,464 reports in total, with 29,752 unique VINs. ODI continues to receive allegations of L87 engine failures which fall outside of the scope of recall 25V-274. Based on GM’s recall, ODI will close this PE. NHTSA will continue to investigate complaints of engine failure outside the scope of recall 25V-274 as part ofEngineering Analysis (EA25007). To review the ODI reports cited in the Closing Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.
