I PUT A COMPLAINT IN TO FORD THREE YEARS AGO I EVEN TALKED TO ONE OF THIER ENGINEERS ABOUT THE PROBLEM THEY SAID THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME ON IT THEY NEVER DID, THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS FAILURE ARE CATASTROPHIC ON THE HIGHWAY. WE HAD TO REPLACE THE PART I HAVE ALL THREE PARTS. AFTER WE CALLED FORD I CALLED NHTSA AND PUT IN A COMPLAINT, EVEN E-MAILED YOU, I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING AS OF YET, TODAY I CALLED AND I WAS SENT TO THIS SITE. *LA

94V154000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:storage:tank Assembly

Aug 15, 1994

THE LABELS REMINDING OPERATORS CLOSING THE FUEL TANK CROSSOVER VALVES TO REOPEN THE VALVES BEFORE OPERATING THE ENGINES WERE OMITTED. IF THE TANKS ARE OVER HALF FULL AND VEHICLE OPERATION WAS RESUMED WITHOUT REOPENING THE FUEL TANK CROSS-OVER VALVES, PRESSURE COULD BUILD IN ONE OF THE TANKS.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: PRESSURE BUILD-UP COULD RESULT IN RUPTURE OF A FUEL TANK AND SPILLING DIESEL FUEL, WHICH CAN CAUSE A FIRE.

Remedy: OWNERS WILL BE MAILED A PAIR OF LABELS AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. IF THE OWNER PREFERS, A DEALER CAN INSTALL THE LABELS.
