I went to start my vehicle and the digital screen on the dash does not work. This is the screen with the digital speedometer, odometer, miles driven and many other digital readouts connected to a “cluster” of wiring within the dash. This is a problem that could not be prevented by me, and is the fault of a faulty manufacturing piece. There is a blank space in the dash where the readouts were. This piece is definitely a safety hazard and should be replaced by Ford. Local dealer told me it was out of warranty therefore my responsibility.

The contact attempted to depress the brake pedal to restart the vehicle and the brake pedal felt firm. The contact attempted to depress the brake pedal with her two feet but it failed to respond. The contact was able to depress the brake pedal after several attempts. The contact was able to drive to her residence and parked the vehicle. However, the failure reoccurred twice while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the body control module (BCM) had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer also informed the contact that the failure could be associated with the instrument cluster. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V406000 (Electrical System) that she associated with the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 133,000.

The contact stated that the infotainment screen would intermittently display a black screen which caused the backup camera to fail to operate as designed. In addition, the contact stated that the START/STOP button would fail to respond after multiple attempts. On two separate occasions, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train). The contact had called the dealer and made an appointment; however, once she arrived, she was informed that parts for the recall repair was not available. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was unknown. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 101, "Control and Displays" and 102, "Transmission shift lever sequence, starter interlock, and transmission braking effect" as well as FMVSS numbers 126, 108, 135, 138, 208, and 305.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, increases the risk of a crash.

Consequence: Battery failure can cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. Battery failure can also increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Owners are advised not to charge battery till the remedy has been completed. Dealers will perform a battery energy control module (BECM) software update, and replace the high voltage battery pack, as necessary, free of charge. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2015 Ford Escape vehicles manufactured April 1, 2014, to June 12, 2015, Ford Focus vehicles manufactured June 17, 2014, to June 12, 2015, and Ford C-Max vehicles manufactured April 22, 2014, to June 12, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the engine may continue to run after the key or the START/STOP engine button is turned to off. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the engine does not turn off as expected, someone could move the transmission shifter out of park and the vehicle may move unintentionally, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Escape vehicles manufactured October 5, 2011, to April 1, 2013, and equipped with 2.0 liter engines and Focus ST vehicles manufactured February 14, 2012, to October 14, 2013, and equipped with 2.0 liter engines. Insufficient compression in the engine wiring harness splices to the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor may provide incorrect signals to the powertrain control module (PCM).
