Ford is stating a parts will not be available until early 2025. I almost lost my light driving last night on the highway. The car started slowing down, and making a noise and then started shaking out the blue on the highway and the engine was making a lot of noise. Thank goodness I was able to maneuver my car and not strike a concrete barrier or another vehicle, but I had to pay $200.00 to tow my car home and missed my shift for work. The Low Engine Oil Pressure alert came up on my dashboard, which is related to recall; Campaign: 23S64/23V905. This recall states the vehicle is safe to drive which is a lie. I am still financing this car and it is undriveable. Ford MUST supply a loaner vehicle until the parts come in and/or pay for all Uber/Lyft, grocery delivery fees etc as no one can wait a whole year for parts to come in for Ford not making a safe vehicle in the first place. I also have video of how loud my engine is.

On [XXX] I was driving on [XXX] towards Ashville, NC at 65 mph. My oil pressure light came on. Within thirty seconds my car had decelerated and come to a complete stop. I was able to roll onto the shoulder. There was no warning. The light had never come on before. I had just had my oil changed the month before. My car was eventually towed to Ken Wilson Ford in Canton, NC. I was told it was the oil tensioner arm and the engine needed to be replace. It is still there. Thankfully there is a dedicated service member that worked for more than eight weeks to get authorization for a rental car. I do not know how long they will allow me to keep that; without it I do not have transportation to and from work. I have talked to Ford Service and they have very concern about my situation. I was told on [XXX] that the parts were not expected until late 2024. Ford has know about this problem for years. It is just recently been declared an official recall. Suddenly there are parts available when they have been fixing this problem at the dealerships since 2018. I know there have been accidents related to this recall. In my case I was lucky there was no one in the lane next to me and I was able to coast to the shoulder. I have still not received a recall letter. The engine oil pump belt tensioner is damaged, which caused me to be unable to drive the car and have difficulty braking. There is a recall for this part and no available repair.

It is currently at the dealer and needs a whole new engine. It has been inspected by the technicians at the dealership. This all happened within minutes of the light coming on. The technician stated the oil pump belt was damaged and came apart resulting in a whole new engine being needed. Ford sent the recall notice in Feb 2024 and the part is still not available. They are refusing to pay for the new engine up front.

On September 20, 2023, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE23-015 to investigate instances of engine failure due to loss of oil pressure in model year (MY) 2018-2021 Ford EcoSport vehicles. Some consumers reported a low engine oil pressure warning lamp immediately preceding a complete loss or reduction of motive power while the vehicle was in motion. The investigation revealed that the engine oil pump drive belt tensioner arm may fracture, separate from the tensioner backing plate, and/or the oil pump drive belt may degrade and lose teeth, resulting in a loss of engine oil pressure. A loss of engine oil pressure can result in engine seizure, which can result in a loss of motive power and a loss of mechanical vacuum pump required to provide power braking assist, increase the risk of a crash. On December 22, 2023, Ford filed recall 23V-905 for certain MY 2016-2018 Ford Focus and 2018-2022 Ford EcoSport vehicles. The recall remedy provides the replacement of the oil pump drive belt tensioner assembly and oil pump drive belt with redesigned parts to improve robustness.
