TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CRUISER RV VIEWFINDER BEING HAULED BY A 2013 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS NON-COMPLIANT WITH THE WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION FOR THE TRAVEL TRAILER, WHICH CAUSED A FAILURE MORE THAN ONCE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS HAULING THE TRAILER, THE WHEELS WOBBLED EXTENSIVELY AND THE TRAILER SWAYED IN AN UNSAFE MANNER. IN ADDITION, THE AXLES FRACTURED AND THE SPRINGS FAILED. THE DEALER REPLACED ALL OF THE AXLES AND THE SPRINGS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. AFTER THE REPAIR REMEDY, THE TRAILER STILL WOBBLED EXCESSIVELY AND THE SUSPENSION WAS UNSTABLE DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION CONCERNING THE COMPONENTS BEING STRESSED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED NO REPAIR SOLUTION. THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER FOR MORE THAN A MONTH AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN THE TRAVEL TRAILER WOULD BE REPAIRED. THERE WAS NO MILEAGE.
Cruiser RV is recalling certain model year 2006-2013 Fun Finder, Shadow Cruiser, Fun Finder Xtra, Viewfinder, Signature, Radiance, Enterra recreational trailers manufactured January 1, 2006, through April 25, 2013 and equipped with Fastec-brand door locks. It may be possible to remove the key from the lock in a way that potentially jams the deadbolt.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the deadbolt jams, the interior side of the door lock may also jam. A person inside the travel trailer at the time will then be locked in and be unable to exit the vehicle without using the emergency exit, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy: Cruiser RV will notify owners, and Fastec will coordinate the inspection and replacement of the cylinders, as needed, free of charge. The recall began January 20, 2014. Owners may contact Cruiser RV at 1-260-562-3500 or Fastec at 1-800-837-2505.
