The contact stated that the vehicle required to be jumpstarted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V435000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). The vehicle failed to start, and the dealer informed the contact that the battery replacement was required prior to a diagnostic test. The contact declined to pay for a new battery. The vehicle was not diagnosed; however, upon inspection, the dealer informed the contact that the recall repair was not applicable due to the installation of an aftermarket alternator. The manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact to not retrieve from the dealer until the issue was resolved. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
