IT TOOK UNTIL SEPTEMBER 16TH TO GET IT INTO THE SHOP AND IT'S BEEN THERE 49 DAYS NOW. CHEVROLET IS SAYING THIS IS 'NORMAL NOISE' AND MY CONTENTION IS IT'S A PROBLEM OR A DEFECT OR WORSE - A SAFETY ISSUE. I FIND IT FUNNY (NOT REALLY) THAT THEY'VE BEEN TELLING ME ALL ALONG THAT THE CRUZE USES SAME COMPONENTS. NOW THE CRUZE FOR 14 AND 15, AND THE 14 VOLT IS RECALLED. FOR A TIE ROD PROBLEM AND REPLACEMENT OF STEERING GEAR. NOT A NUT OR BOLT HAS BEEN TOUCHED BY THE PEOPLE LOOKING AT MY CAR, WHY ARE THEY SO CONCERNED UNLESS THERE IS SOMETHING THEY DON'T KNOW, THAT THEY AREN'T TELLING ME. 49 DAYS WITHOUT MY CAR NOW, 'EVERYTHING IS FINE' IS WHAT I KEEP BEING TOLD, SO WHO IS CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY? CERTAINLY NOT CHEVROLET. THERE'S A PROBLEM, AND SOMEONE, CHEVROLET, NEEDS TO MAKE IT RIGHT!!
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Cruze vehicles manufactured November 8, 2013, to March 12, 2015, and 2015 Chevrolet Volt vehicles manufactured April 11, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the inner tie rod may not be tightened to specification allowing the tie rod to separate from the steering gear.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Separation of the tie rod from the steering gear could result in the loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gear assembly, free of charge. The recall began on July 28, 2015. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 15386.

NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after March 1, 2021.On January 27, 2023, NHTSA opened Defect Petition (DP) 22-005 to evaluate the subject matter described in the petition. On June 24, 2023 and as supplemented on June 25, 2023, the petitioner notified NHTSA he was withdrawing his petition. The petitioner indicated that, based on his review of data, there is no justification for asserting potential benefits that could be derived from actions sought by my petition. Based on the petitioner's withdrawal, DP22-005 is closed. Closure of this DP does not represent a determination by NHTSA regarding the subject matter of the petition.
